I LISTENED IN ONE SITTING & REALLY LIKED IT!

Would you consider the audio edition of Re-Wired to be better than the print version?

I think audio is always best!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Re-Wired?

When we find out how delusional Brad really is...I never suspected till all the pieces got put into place...Sure I knew he was a weirdo...but really?? lol

What does Jack Nolan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He told the story really well....would I say his narration was flawless? No, but he is a good story teller...and I was completely interested the whole way through!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This would be a really cool little movie....people would be shocked with the little twist-a-roo in this one!

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

I really liked this story, and listened all at once....its not very long, but I was completely engaged all the way through...and the ending wasn't as complex as I would of liked it to be, but I was ok with it...Basically we have Brad who is kinda a geeky weirdo, but brilliant and insecure about himself...comes with the territory of budding geniuses...as Brad states very sad, but cleverly, that the women that would not date him now, would fall all over him in his 40s...Its kind of a shame, because he did have a lot to offer...He created this magnificent android and names her Trisha....she is beautiful and smart, and has a thirst for knowledge and can feel...she loves Brad, but he gets greedy and in the end really pays an ultimate price...just really shows you how ID and EGO really can destroy someone...

Good story, very interesting, and solid narration...I recommend!

An interesting Sci-Fi tale with great narration

Title: RE-WIRED

Author: Greg Dragon

Type of Book: Audiobook - Unabridged

Narrator: Jack Nolan

Length: 3 hours and 44 minutes

Genre: Science Fiction

Release Date: July 16, 2015

Publisher: Greg Dragon

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Set in Seattle sometime in the not-too-distant future. There are flying cars as well as regular cars, robots and androids have become commonplace and marijuana is legal. But some things haven't changed ... such as the desires and expectations of family.

Brad's family is no exception. His has always been a medical family and Brad has been groomed since childhood to become a doctor. What Brad's parents don't know is that he has no intention of following the life-path they have designed for him.

Attending college, he is taking all the requisite medical classes, but Brad's favorites class is an elective - Robotics. When each member of the class is given a basic android kit and told that they are each to create their own android, Brad is thrilled. Being assigned to create his own android is his dream come true. He has many ideas and innovations that he is eager to try. He wants to create an android that is indistinguishable from humans and one that is self-aware and who can think for herself.

The project becomes an obsession and he desperately wants his android (whom he named Trisha) to have human looking (and feeling) skin. But that type of upgrade is expensive and Brad needs to figure out a way to get the money he needs.

His only option is to look for the "skin" in the criminal underworld. It is there that he is offered a deal seems too good to be true.

Remember the old adage that states "If something seems to good to be true, it probably is." But, will this be true for Brad? Or will he and his android prove to be the exception?

This book grabbed my interest right from the start. The idea of creating self-aware androids is not a new idea. In fact, it is a plot line in many movies and books. Because of this I expected a predictable storyline, but thankfully my suspicions were completely unfounded.

This audiobook takes the listener on a roller coaster ride with lots of twists, turns, dips and even some blind corners.

The narrator, Jack Nolan's voice is the perfect blend of raw and sophisticated. He is easily understood which is essential to a positive listening experience. He never rushes the story and his pacing is 'spot-on'. I rate the narration as 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The story was interesting and the many twists mean that the listeners attention never wavers. I enjoyed this audiobook and I look forward to reading other titles by Greg Dragon. Overall I rate this audiobook as 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

ReWired

This is a new twist on an old story.Boy builds android to be like a real woman. This is illegal.Boy wants her to be more real,so he signs on for a drug trial that ends up making him more alluring to real women. He gets a real girlfriend ,or so he thinks. This story is so twisted I'm not really sure what was supposed to be 'real'.
The narrator,Jack Nolan was awful. To me he sounded like a computer reading the book. His lady android actually sounds more real.

Any potential is marred by clumsy narration

What did you love best about Re-Wired?

My only compliant is that the "twist" is alluded to a bit too strongly initially, and thus takes away a lot of potential suspense.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tricia. She is inquisitive and naive, yet still somehow remains grounded in a way that I can do nothing but admire

What three words best describe Jack Nolan’s voice?

robotic, artificial, and dry. Nolan's cadence changes radically throughout the book, seemingly with no rhyme or reason. Pauses and even a few missing words are littered awkwardly throughout the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen in one sitting due to the short length. However. the narrator's quirks are jarring and abrasive, pulling me from the story often.

Character-Driven Science Fiction

If you could sum up Re-Wired in three words, what would they be?

Character. Driven. Robots.

What did you like best about this story?

The twist ending is what really made the story work. Also, I liked seeing the world through the innocent eyes of Tricia the android.

What aspect of Jack Nolan’s performance would you have changed?

The narration seemed oddly timed. There were often pauses at times that felt quite unnatural.

Any additional comments?

Re-Wired wasn't quite the book I thought it would be. I was expecting a thriller about a killer robot. Rather, it was an intimate character-driven story about a teenage boy, and how the creation of a unique artificial intelligence changes his world. This doesn't it was a lesser book, just a different book.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes in this story. The book concluded with a bit of a twist ending, which made you look back on the story with new eyes. Brad is a likable-enough protagonist. You can't help but feel for him as the events of the story lead him in a down-ward spiral, and hope that he comes through it in the end. I also enjoyed seeing the world through the innocent eyes of the android Tricia.

There was no clear villain in the story. In a lot of ways, Brad's greatest enemy was himself. There was, in the background, something of a political thing going on, portraying people of faith (such as myself) as the antagonists (kind of surreal reading a book that casts you as the bad guy). Brad doesn't really get involved in all of this though. He's got his own problems. He's just a guy who wants to be happy.

The book has a bit of a social message - though written from a very different world-view than mine. Examining issues is an important function of science fiction and this book does a reasonable job of that.

The writing style in the first chapter felt a little choppy, and jumped through a lot of time very quickly, but this evened out through the rest of the book.

Re-Wired will appeal to those who enjoy a character-based story, with a little science fiction thrown into the mix.

Interesting take on an old concept

What an odd book. I literally just finished this and I'm not entirely sure how I felt about it. It had a definite 'gollum' type story to it (not LOTR but the legend of clay people brought to life). I'm not sure if it's a re-telling or not.

I think part of the reason I can't decide how I feel about the actual story is because of the narration. It felt like the narrator was reading the sentences for the first time, causing odd breaks where there shouldn't be, statements read as questions and vice versa. There was a feeling that the narrator was constantly distracted.

I'm disappointed at the lack of quality and that audible would allow such a poorly produced title on their site. I feel like if someone had taken the time to listen to a five minute sample shortly after the narrator began the project, they could've easily been coached to do a much better job- and I feel like that would make the story much more engaging.

RE-WIRED

great story line. a bit confusing at the end but i like stories that make you think "what just happened ?"
i wasnt impressed with the narrator. there was alot of irritating pauses in his speech pattern that reminded me of text to speech...no feelings at all.
the narration is the only thing that prevented me from giving a five star review. this audiobook was provided at no cost in by the author and or publisher in exchange for an unbiased review thru audiobookblast dot com

Re wired

Any additional comments?

The author has created a new world in Re-Wired that is totally different and believable. This is a world that we could find ourselves living in if the brilliant minds of today become focused on turning robots into undetectable androids. If you read the news, we are already in this situation.

Excellent book!

This is my second book by Greg Dragon and I can say without a doubt I'm definitely a fan of his work! My first book was Single Wired Female which is actually book 2 of Re-wired. Both books are fine as a stand alone book. I love a good artificial intelligence story! This one is kind of a sad love story. Great book and I highly recommend it!
