Profound description of situations in her life, specially joys and obstacles of the foundation of the discalced Carmelite order. Deep sharing of emotions, doubts and reassurances of faith as well as interactions with Our Lord in moments of rapture.

Hopeful
The account of this woman's life was remarkable. However, it could have been edited a little. She tended to table and repeat herself. The content was, nonetheless very inspiring. It have me hope that this wretched soul also had a chance to achieve sainthood.

Moving account of a life devoted to God
Listening to this production was a wonderful experience. Even thought Teresa's life is so different from mine, she became a friend as I listened to her story. Definitely recommend!

I read a lot of reviews with some concern about the author or about the original book in general. I think for one who has a Catholic background these concerns are valid. But I believe that in the reading/listening of this book nothing of faith is lost. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a entry level into the life of Saint Theresa of Avila. And I want more of her!

Teresa in her own words
Interesting accounts from this humble woman. I enjoyed this book and the reader. She details many times in her life and personal accounts with Mary, Jesus, her guardian angel and other saints.

Helpful in the spiritual life
I really enjoyed the book, but the translation was frustrating in some areas. For instance, the translation employed euphemisms for sin (‘missed the mark’) and Satan (‘spirit of evil’) Hearing these euphemisms was a bit annoying. I wish she’d just translated them literally, as Saint Teresa had intended.
