Victor Craig, to my ears, Delivers a Better Narnia

So, I'm in the minority who can't bear the hammy and overwrought performances in the popular Audio Narnia ... the one with Kenneth Brannagh, Jeremy Northam, et al. All fine actors, but they seem to have been directed to act with no subtlety or restraint for that series.

I despaired that its popularity would mean I'd never get another audio Narnia. When this Magician's Nephew hit the market, I pounced on it, and, for me, Victor Craig brings some restraint and an almost Jim Henson Movie sensibility to the proceedings. Certainly his Aslan voice is less benevolent than I wanted, but then, He is a dangerous Lion. As it is settling in during early listening, I find myself surrendering to Craig's choices more and more. Finding an audio Narnia that works for me is a very big deal, and I think this is the one. Slowing it to 0.90 speed tweaks it to an even better performance, to my ears.

If you find the other audio Narnia too fussy and over emotive, try this one for sure.

Inspirational

Christians would have more understanding of the story line but others may become Christia while trying to understand it. CS Lewis has always been a revered writer.

enjoyable!

this was real good. I am partial to the other narrator whom I've listened to reading this wonderful book numerous times. But this narrator did a good job. I love this whole series. looking forward to listening to the other books. I wonder uf they'll use this same reader or use others to read.
