Another great read

I have read and/or listened to all of Ellery Adams books and have not yet been disappointed. The story line had twists and turns and kept me in suspense. I hope to see more to come in this series.

Great start to a new series

Thank you Audible for the suggestion- I have found a new author to enjoy! This is book one of a new mystery series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m a big fan of cozy mysteries. The main four characters are wonderful- each woman has a secret in her past that causes her to feel damaged. I love how they form a friendship and realize how strong they are as friends and individuals. But that’s really a side story- the main story is the murder mystery. The author is a great storyteller and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I also can’t wait to check out other novels by the author!

Listened in 2 Days!

Great book. Somewhat cliche at parts, but enough of a mystery to keep me listening and interested. Great narrator.

Nice cozy. Good attempt by the author to get you to feel for the good guys by having iffy pasts. Just a nice listen.

Very enjoyable read.

I really liked this book. I liked that the characters were flawed in different ways. It made them seem real. I'm looking forward to the next book!

An interesting start to a new mystery series

Nora Pennington moved to Miracle Springs after a terrible personal tragedy, and opened a bookstore, Miracle Books. She sells books, and coffee, and for those customers who need it, over a "comfort scone" from the neighboring Gingerbread House bakery, she'll listen to their troubles, and recommend well-chosen books to start them on the path to healing.

It's a peaceful, quiet life, until one day, the customer in need of healing is Neil Parrish. He makes an appointment to see her the next day, but is killed by a train before he can keep that appointment. It's not long before the clumsy official investigation into the death connects Nora with three other women who moved to Miracle Springs for their own healing. They form the Secret, Book, & Scone Society. They share their secrets, and launch their own investigation of Neil Parrish's death.

They're all compromised individuals, but they also all prove to be strong and smart women in their own ways. Miracle Springs also proves to have more than just their secrets, and much more dangerous ones, but it also has other strong, good characters along with its venal and corrupt ones. The plot avoids the lazy and the silly, and we see the women discover their strength, learn to trust their new friendship, and also start to make more friends beyond their own immediate circle.

The book reads to me like a well-thought-out, and very promising start to a new mystery series, centered around character.

lots to like in this book, a pleasant read, but the dialogue was clunky at times.

narrator was very good. story was good and there were enough characters to keep the plot interesting

Audio Books Were Desigened for this One

Just a fun little mystery story. Charters not overly developed. Just an enjoyable listen during my 3 hour daily commute. Cris does a great job on this narration.
