I feel dirty-like I’ve participated in something illegal

Well…ummm - IDK what to say about this one. It started out nice and innocent enough. Then BAM! All hell breaks loose. I don’t think any “normal” sane person could even begin to imagine the depravity that begins this woman’s torture. It’s not that it’s a bad book…it’s just a bit too much over the top containing the most disgusting violations that I felt dirty listening. It was like I was participating in something borderline illegal. I liked the wrap up and ending. However, I don’t think I’ll be listening to the Son of the Slob.

Disgusting but tasteful

It was so incredibly hard to listen to yet hard not to hear more of the story, as a mother myself it was especially hard to listen to the part with the dumbbell ….. will be listening to more books

It's ok.

Tries a wee bit too hard but it's a decent bit of fiction. The Narrator really takes this one from a two star to a three. She does a very good job with what's here. It's not really horror in my opinion.

Was going to vomit

The description of the violence inflicted was so well visualized I thought at some points I might vomit!!! Well done… from one author to another….

went into this book thinking it was going to be one of those books you find on your teachers book shelf in the 3rd grade...
I was sooooo wrong
it was brutal and my gf and I eager to go to the next chapter!
10/10 would recommend

Dude….

If you like extreme horror or splatterpunk then this is an amazing book. You know what you’re getting yourself into. The story was interesting and exciting, the narrator was great. Overall good time.

Story is cliche but well executed

The kidnapped by a horrifying serial killer trope is definitely an over done one, but this was still a worthwhile and fun read. Definitely stomach churning in the worst ways, well executed splatterpunk vibes. Most of all a rewarding ending that still leaves room to lead into the sequel.

Perfectly Horrid! Sick, Twisted, Dark & Depraved!

I love morbid gore, crazy plots and this didn't disappoint! If you like sick and twisted, dark and depraved, would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I've yet to find anything that tops it!

Hardcore--Thoroughly Impressed!!

I've only recently discovered the genre of "splatterpunk" through recommendations on YouTube. I had this book recommended in 3 back to back videos so I decided to take the plunge---violent, stomach-churning, and bleak. 100% bada$$.

I kind of scoffed at the idea that a book could make me flinch as hard as a movie, but here I am a new fan of Aron Beauregard. The story definitely isn't for everyone---if you're looking for a deep exploration of the human psyche in a horror setting or whatnot, this probably isn't for you.

if you're looking for a ferociously brutal book that flexes how powerful the page can be when compared to its counterpart in the movies, well here you go. You're going to love this.

(Also absolute props to the narrator for having such a great and unflinching performance---being able to provide a voice to a book like this takes some serious fortitude and she has an unending supply.)

Wow.

If you want intense gore that leaves you feeling too sick to eat for the rest of the day, this book is a good read. The author has a great way of really making you feel for the characters while also making you cringe at all the gut wrenching horrors the book has to offer. The reason I gave the story 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the overuse of details. The way the author went on for what felt like an entire page just on the “Slob” alone was a bit overkill. Towards the end of his description I found myself thinking “Okay we get it, he’s gross.” This seemed to happen a few times in the book with over description of surroundings or person. Towards the end, I found myself feeling the opposite happened. There wasn’t enough description on the characters surroundings for me to paint a good picture in my head. This is however my own opinion of course and I still think the book was really great and lived up to it’s genre. I did not eat the entire day after listening to this book so clearly the author has some amazing talents.

On an additional note, the woman reading the book did an amazing job. I loved that she did voices for the other characters but it wasn’t over done at all.
