Between dusk and dawn on the night of March 24-25, 1944, a small army of Allied soldiers crawled through tunnels in Germany in a covert operation the likes of which the Third Reich had never seen. On the night of March 24, 1944, 80 Commonwealth airmen crawled through a 336-foot-long tunnel and slipped into the forest beyond the wire of Stalag Luft III, a German POW compound near Sagan, Poland. The event became known as "The Great Escape"; an intricate breakout more than a year in the making, involving as many as 2,000 POWs working with extraordinary coordination, intelligence, and daring.

Great Reveal
Great information from a great event that represents good over evil in spite of their deaths. Loved the pre-war details of their lives and incident information that resulted in their capture. My only wish is….. that they had delayed the escape long enough to lengthen the tunnel and had waited until the snow was gone!
