Resumen del Editor

Sparks fly when a lovelorn romance novelist and a divorce lawyer who has sworn off relationships agree to cohost a podcast series offering dating advice to viewers, in Truly, Madly, Deeply, the next steamy queer rom-com from Lambda Literary Award winner and national bestselling author Alexandria Bellefleur.

As a bestselling romance novelist, everyone thinks Truly Livingston is an expert on happily-ever-afters. She’s even signed on to record a podcast sharing relationship advice. Little do they know she feels like an imposter—her parents just announced they’re separating, she caught her fiancé cheating, and her entire view on love has been shaken to the core. Truly hopes the podcast will distract her... until she meets her cohost.

Her first impression of Colin McCory is...hot. But then he opens his extremely kissable mouth. Colin’s view on love just pisses Truly off, even if he does have an annoyingly attractive face. Bickering with a cynical divorce lawyer is the last thing she needs—so she walks out, with no plans to return.

A few days later, Truly is surprised when Colin tracks her down, asking for a fresh start. Truly can’t deny the little thrill she gets from Colin begging, so she reluctantly agrees. As they go from enemies to friends to something else entirely, Truly discovers they have more in common than she ever imagined, including their shared queerness. He’s a genuinely good guy—charming, sweet, and equally as unlucky in love as herself—and there’s something about Colin that drives Truly a little wild. When their attraction reaches a fever pitch, Truly is happy for the first time in years. Yet she can’t help but wonder... is Colin truly, madly, deeply in love with her? Or is it all too good to be true?

So clever!

The banter was so clever and kept me interested the whole time. All characters (minus the villains) were likable. The spice was spicy. The MCs had so much chemistry from the beginning!

Great book, even better narration

This might be my favorite Alexandria Bellefleur book, but I say that after every new one I read. Colin McRory is unlike any other book boyfriend and his and Truly's banter and relationship is great. The spice is definitely spicing. The performance by Lauren Sweet makes the listening experience amazing!

I wish I could bleach my brain of this audiobook

I hate this book. Truly is the most entitled, obnoxious completely ridiculous character I’ve read all year. The fact that she is a twenty seven year old that acts like a toddler is only one of the MANY things to hate about this book. This book felt like death by a million bad quips. The banter was so over the top and there were so many social media references I was cringing this entire book. Not to mention the absolute lack of awareness the fmc has at crossing boundaries when it comes to her poor parents. She treats the mmc like garbage almost the entire book and we are supposed to believe it’s fine bc he’s into “mean” girls. Take my advice and don’t waste a credit on this train wreck.

I wanted to like this one

Colin and Truly meet while making a podcast. Colin is a family lawyer (divorce attorney) Truly is a author of queer regency romance novels. She is the “expert “ on love, he is the “expert” of well, love issues. They argue and then they don’t. Then don’t like each other, and then they do. Both the characters are likable and the one brief conversation they have about their mutual bisexuality is thought provoking and honest.

“My point, before I got off on a personal tangent, was that there’s no such thing as being queer enough. Action and attraction are two different things.”

But then that topic never goes anywhere and is not revisited.

So why did I feel like I was watching a sitcom, and not a particularly interesting one? All the elements were there, but they just didn’t mesh for me. Don’t get me wrong, this is a nice romantic story with parts so spicy that I felt like someone was narrating an adult film to me. I just expected too much. Alexandria Bellefleur’s book Written In the Stars is one of my favorite romance stories and I had hoped this might continue that trend.

I think if you go into this book without any expectations you will enjoy it more than I did.

The narration by Lauren Sweet was consistantly excellent, there was never any issue distinguishing the characters and she brought energy and enthusiasm to all the parts, particularly Truly
