Listen to Fishpriest. Available starting May 19th!

The Bronx, 1993. Crack is king. Crime is rampant. Tommy “Fishpriest” Barth - nicknamed after his weapon of choice, a club that’s meant to kill fish but works on people just fine - sees the chaos firsthand at Concourse Bail Bonds.

Today, Tommy’s a bounty hunter, but he was a cop up until two years ago, when an all-consuming undercover operation to bust one of the most notorious crime syndicates the city's ever seen - the Jamaican Shower Posse - destroyed his marriage, drove him to addiction, and cost him his badge.

Tommy thought he’d banished the JSP from the Bronx forever. But with the crack epidemic in full swing, they’re back - and they’re stronger. When Tommy’s ex-partner offers him a shot at redemption, he chooses to risk everything he’s rebuilt.

    Will he survive this time?

Ethan Hawke (Training Day) stars in this dark, thrilling, character-driven crime drama. This cinematic Audible Original is presented in eight-episodes with intense, wall-to-wall sound design and grim and gritty performances at a fever-pitch.

About the Actor

Ethan Hawke has established himself as a multifaceted artist: actor, screenwriter, director, producer, musician and best-selling novelist. In 2019, The New York Times summed up his screen persona by stating, "Ethan Hawke has quietly emerged as perhaps our boldest and most distinctive screen actor." First tapping into the pop culture zeitgeist with Ben Stiller's 1994 comedy Reality Bites and since his debut in the iconic 1989 feature Dead Poets Society opposite Robin Williams, Hawke has starred in over sixty films. He received Academy Award and Screen Actors Guild nominations for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his work in Antoine Fuqua's Training Day, opposite Denzel Washington. As an author, in 2021 Hawke released two new works: his first novel in twenty years, A Bright Ray of Darkness, which explores art, love, fame, and heartbreak in a blistering story of a young man making his Broadway debut in Henry IV just as his marriage implodes; and the graphic novel Meadowlark: A Coming-of-Age Crime Story. A best-selling author, Hawke’s written works also include the novels The Hottest State and Ash Wednesday; and the children’s book Rules for a Knight.  Hawke resides in New York and is married with four children.

About the Creator

Mike Batistick is a writer and producer whose television credits include Showtime’s The Affair, FX’s The Americans (WGA Nomination), Peacock’s Mr. Mercedes, and NBC’s Chicago PD. Fantastic & Gritty Crime Story

Wow! I seldom write reviews for serialized podcasts but was compelled to write one for Fishpriest. This was a super-gritty crime drama, and Ethan Hawke's performances and the supporting cast were phenomenal. I totally envisioned this as a live-action series on Netflix. Kudos to the writers, producers, and cast for devising a super intriguing story and plot with substance.

A Gripping Story, A++ Performances

I prefer the stories that are Narrated by multiple people, this wasn’t narrated Fishpriest was performed & it was performed beautifully.
This is a gripping story about an undercover Police Officer who behaved badly to get his collar and he paid the price. He loses everything, his family, his job, his self respect, but he didn’t get the head of the organization.
The JSP is back & they know everything about Fishpriest, his family, his former colleagues, his only friend. They have a job for him & they are 2 steps ahead of him, will Fish save his family & finish the job he started 2 years ago?
You’ll have to listen to find out

If you like NYPD Blue

It's corny, the acting, at times, and the script. It's a fun story, though. If you crave the old, 90s cop show vibe, here you go.

What a compelling and gritty journey!

What a gritty time it was in the crack era of the 80s/90s. The vibe is captured perfectly and Ethan Hawke knocks it dead in this police drama. There’s love, lust, greed, suspense, action and tragedy. There are no winners here on any front, but in the end of this story as old as Eve deserves a trophy for its acting, SOUND DESIGN(!), and woven thriller of a story.

I was Hooked!! LOL!!

I like Ethan Hawke as an actor. He made the story very real!! The language was excessive but I got through it because of the exciting scenes. I would listen to another story with/by Me. Hawke. This was a "page turner"!!

Hawke does excellently. Wear headphones!

I liked the performances and the execution better than the story itself. The story wasn't bad. I think in order to execute the slick production and multicast performances, the stories themselves must be limited. That being said, the production was great!
