The ending

I can’t wait to listen/read the second book!!!! I loved the themes in this book and the way it held my attention. The writing was great and honestly made me feel connected to the characters in a way I didnt expect!

I love the tea representation

A vampire heist book with tea and pastries. What more could you want? A fun listen.

Captivating

Perfect voice acting and a wonderful story. It starts a little slow but ultimately so worth the read. Very disappointed in myself for missing the twist but incredibly excited to see where this goes. I usually stick to smut but something about the art and the book jacket blurb sucked me in. I want to hate the author now that I’ve finished it but we’ll see when the next book comes out.

Cant believe

😞 the last act was so good!! Am not going to ruin it. But it sucks I cant wait for book 2! Got to say love the name of the tea shop! Also love where it took place too! I enjoy this book by listening to this!

Found Family

The story drags a little at the start but Arthie and Jin are great characters. I love the found family trope because bonds formed with chosen family are sometimes stronger than blood and these two certainly exemplify this.

One of the best books ever

Ugh I can’t even tell you how much I enjoy Hafsah’s writing. Her characters are so deep and enjoyable, so realistic, you feel like you’re part of their story. This book had a great place and a GREAT twist. Best enjoyed with a nice streusel and cuppa. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Couldn’t finish it

The narrator was so disappointing I didn’t finish the audiobook. I couldn’t keep what characters chapter I was reading straight and kept having to restart them thinking it was the story that was letting me down but it wasn’t. The narrator didn’t change tone, inflection, character style, or pacing. It almost ruined it. I would have returned the audiobook if I hadn’t gone too far. I suggest just reading this one.

Okay story, awful audio

The audio is AWFUL. The narrator reads in a near monotone voice, lacking a change in inflection and tone for different characters and scenes. I could not tell which character was speaking or if it was the third person narrator. During scenes of action I expect a tempo change, but there were none.

I enjoyed this book but I didn’t love it. The simplicity of the story makes it a teen book, or what YA used to be. The plot, world building, and depth of characters just brushes the surface. Nothing is truly flushed out.

The author states she is a “pantser” and it shows. There are timelines that don’t match up and some holes in the world building.
