Publisher's summary

Tall, dark, and handsome Benedict Carsington, Viscount Rathbourne is the perfect aristocrat. As the heir to the Earl of Hargate, he is renowned for his perfect manners, perfect breeding, and perfect wardrobe. Unlike his scandalous brothers, Benedict is in no danger of ending up in the scandal sheets - until he meets her.

Bathsheba Wingate, is a member of the DeLucey family - the rotten side - notorious for being cheats, frauds, and swindlers. It's no wonder her deceased highborn husband's family disowned him when they wed. Still, she's determined to see her daughter, Olivia, raised a proper lady, despite the disruptive DeLucey genes she seems to have inherited. When Olivia strong-arms Rathbourne's precocious nephew to join her adventure in search a fabled cache of pirated DeLucey treasure, Benedict and Bathsheba must rush after them to avoid a scandal of disastrous proportions. Who knew that such an impossible match would be the perfect temptation for them both?

One of my favorites by Loretta Chase

The characters were witty, specially Bathsheba. A completely witty and refreshing story with very well developed characters. So many funny scenes were woven into the story that I had to go back and re-listen because I enjoyed them so much. I loved how she kept trying to give Benedict up because she knew he can get ruined by any association with her. But the entire thing was done in a light hearted and funny way and unlike other romances where the rejection would have been the end of it all. I will have to revisit this book again in the future. :)

ENTHRALLING, SEDUCTIVE AND ENTERTAINING!!

It was great to follow Benedict Carsington's MUCH NEEDED fall into love. Benedict is the responsible, older brother of the Carsington's and he's the opitome of male, aristocratic perfection. I loved how he immediately became aware of Bathsheba Wingate's presence at the museum on an ordinary day where he accompanied his studious, nephew Peregrin. Bathsheba caught his attention, as she was devastatingly beautiful to him. Regarding this strong sense of awareness the two had for each other, Loretta Chase did a fantastic job in setting up the sexual tension between both Bathsheba and Benedict. There was definitely a lot of powerful nonverbal messages emitted between the two that I found fascinating.

Peregrin and Bathsheba's strong-headed daughter, Olivia immediately started budding heads and it was fun to see both Benedict and Bathsheba getting involved to settle peace. Yet, Peregrin and Olivia formed a stout friendship that pulled in the adults, in equal measure, into an adventure that was sure to change all of their lives.

I thought Chase did a wonderful job of setting up the love story between Benedict and Bathsheba, you see and feel how he responds to her....how she makes him happy and brings something special into his life that he had never experienced before. I enjoyed the love scenes, but would have really appreciated a love scene toward the end, close to when you know they are set up for their HEA. The reason is because when they do make love both are giving into what they believe is a momentary impulse since they didn't see how they could be together long-term due to the societal backlash and consequences. This is where their love needed help and it was great to see the family involvement in making a way for Benedict and Bathsheba to be together. That was a great touch!

Kate Reading's narration was excellent. I loved her accent and inflection for Olivia's voice, especially when she writes her adorable letters.

Great love story and the addition of the children was an added delight!

My New Favorite

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this smartly written, funny, laugh out loud funny, romantic with a happy ending book. Perfect

Who was your favorite character and why?

Enjoyed them all, well developed

What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?

Alway enjoy Kate Reading's performance, although I do wish her range included more than one adult male voice. But perhaps that's over reaching because her performances make it really difficult to hit the PAUSE button.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I hate to admit to wet eyes while reading a book of this nature, pure escapism... and laughter and smiles.

Best one in the series

8 out 10 times I like Loretta Chase. Sometimes the female characters, in her books, can get to whiney for me. This book however, almost tops as my favorite from her. (which my all time favorite is the second book of the dress makers series Dukes prefer blonds) This is one of those books that you just couldn't put down. I literally listened to this book every spare second I had and finished it within 2 days.

Kate Reading is Perfect

Once again, Kate Reading turns a so-so book (for me) into a five-star listen! The coolest thing is how she adjusts her Benedict voice from the perfect gentleman into a what-the-hell-I'm-in-love-with-this-woman. She's also excellent with the two children's voices and they rather steal the show.

Highly recommended.

Fantastic!! LOVED IT!! XOXOXO

If you could sum up Lord Perfect in three words, what would they be?

Honestly, I am surprised I loved it as much as I did. Had just finished Mr. Impossible and I knew it would be hard to top that book BUT it DID!! It took a few pages to relax into the DRY humor but i hit rewind more that once to reply an exchange or a scene. So, so. so funny and sad too, but the characters are fabulous everyone of them. Get this BOOK.

Fun, sweet, exactly what I was looking for

Any additional comments?

Loved the story. Witty, sweet, charming. Ms. Chase is now one of my favorite new authors. Why can't audible offer more books like this one?

As good or better than Lord of Scoundrels

Would you listen to Lord Perfect again? Why?

Yes. The humour was outstanding.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters and the dialogue. I listen while I drive, and I was belly-laughing at some of the situations and dialogue. Haven't had this much fun listening to an audio since Chase's Lord of Scoundrels. By the way, I like this story even better.

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I've never been disappointed with her performances. She's definitely one of the better narrators.

Any additional comments?

If you liked Chase's Lord of Scoundrels, I think you'll really enjoy this one. I had to back up quite a few times and re-listen to the more comical scenes. I love it when an author combines an interesting storyline with humour and laugh out loud dialogue.

Drab characters

Sadly I did not care for the characters. I believe it was impart to both the author and the narrator. For me a good book brings the characters to become part of your life for a short time, i usually care about there thoughts, and feelings yet these characters were drab. It was a tough book to finish, I simply didn't need to know what was going to happen next. If I wasn't listening to it on my commute to work to pass the time, I would have never finished.

Terrible

Any additional comments?

If you would like to listen to/read a good Loretta Chase book, try Lord of Scoundrels or the Dressmaker series. Do NOT pick Lord Perfect. In my opinion you will be wasting a precious credit. The story was boring and contrived. I could not care less about the characters. They were wooden and contrived. I gave the reader three stars because of the way she pronounced "Bathsheba". I have always known this Biblical name to be pronounced with the emphasis on SHE (Bath she' ba) but the reader put the emphasis on Bath (Bath' she ba). Every time she said the name it made me uncomfortable, as if my shirt was on backwards or my shoes were on the wrong foot. A total turnoff.
