Publisher's summary

When Eli Block steps into his parents' living room and sees his childhood crush sitting on the couch, he starts a shameless campaign to seduce the young rabbi. Unfortunately, Seth Cohen barely remembers Eli and he resolutely shuts down all his advances. As a tenuous and then binding friendship forms between the two men, Eli must find a way to move past his unrequited love while still keeping his best friend in his life. Not an easy feat when the same person occupies both roles.

Professional, proper Seth is shocked by Eli's brashness, overt sexuality, and easy defiance of societal norms. But he's also drawn to the happy, funny, light-filled man. As their friendship deepens over the years, Seth watches Eli mature into a man he admires and respects. When Seth finds himself longing for what Eli had so easily offered, he has to decide whether he's willing to veer from his safe life-plan to build a future with Eli.

I love Seth and Eli SO much!

Looking for narration that will have you laughing out loud, blushing at the sexy times, and cheering at the HEA? Look no further - Walk With Me delivers on all fronts. Filled with humor, hotness, and pure happiness Alexander Collins delivers a spotless performance.

Their story takes place over thirteen years, allowing you to really get to know Seth and Eli and to root for them to be together. This isn't a typical insta-love story. There is definitely relationship building and some major UST. When the sexy times finally commence after the slow, slow burn? Let's just say Seth may be professional and proper in the pulpit, but he is a freak in the sheets, and me likee. Me likee long time.

This is also one of Cardeno's funniest stories. Seriously, there are so many laugh out loud moments in this, I can't even count them all, but I sure am grateful for them. The invitations at the beginning of each chapter are hysterical, and all the wedding shenanigans and fails are worth listening to the narration for alone.

hystericallaughter

Low angst, humor, heat, and light fluffy goodness - fans of the Home series collection (and newcomers alike) should be absolutely delighted with the story and narration performance. The story and narration is perfect!

HIGHLY AND DECIDEDLY RECOMMENDED!!

Great writing, needs a different narrator.

What did you like best about Walk With Me? What did you like least?

I really enjoyed watching Eli grow up and stand steadfast in his feelings for Seth.
I didn't care much for the narrator.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Walk With Me?

The fish graveyard reception! Cupcakes and nail glue, it was hysterical.
OH, maybe the drunk pole dancing bridesmaid.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't use a strong enough change in tone/voice for the two main characters. I sometimes couldn't figure out exactly who was talking at different times.

Was Walk With Me worth the listening time?

Not so much, I think I would have loved this book if I had read it.

Any additional comments?

Eli Block has known who he is and who he wants since he was eleven years old. Six years later that person is not only back in his life, but in his living room. Too bad Seth doesn’t even remember young Eli. Not one to give up when he sets his mind to it, Eli pulls out all the stops in an effort to make Seth notice him. Eventually Eli takes a step back and goes through the motions of living his life. He graduates, goes to college and gets his degree in Music and Teaching, has a series of boyfriends, but nothing or no one every truly replaces the longing he holds for Seth.

Seth Cohen has always kept Eli at arms-length, always tried to convince himself that he is not gay. When Eli extends an olive branch, asking to be friends, Seth graciously accepts and the two become best friends. They talk about everything, and when the time comes, Eli helps Seth pick out his home. As the years pass and Seth stands on the sideline watching Eli grow, make mistakes and try to learn from them, he also watches Eli become a man. A man that Seth is starting to think he wants to be more than just friends with.

I really adored Eli Block. He was tenacious, loyal and unwavering in his love for Seth. It took Seth a while to get on board, and early on I could completely understand why. Seth wasn’t in a place to openly admit or accept being attracted to another man, and there was the age difference. But once Seth’s feelings started to change, it annoyed me that he went out of his way not to talk to Eli about it. I loved the chapter headers in this book, the comic relief with the various weddings and the shenanigans that people got up to. I think the fish graveyard reception was perhaps my favorite.

This is the first book narrated by Alexander Collins I’ve listened to and I wasn’t really impressed. At times I couldn’t tell who was talking, Seth or Eli, he chose such similar tones for the two main characters and that was confusing and frustrating. He seemed to put more effort into the secondary characters than Seth and Eli. I won’t say I wouldn’t listen to another book he voices, but I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to grab something of his either.

The story itself was pretty good, as I said, the sort of angst aspect with Seth figuring out his sexuality and keeping Eli in the dark bothered me, but overall I thought the writing and concept were great… the narration, not so much.

Bravo!

I've been waiting for this story to be released in audiobook format since it was released in its e-book version - finally.. I love the fact that there is no 'real drama' and the wedding fiascos are the icing on the cake for me 😂 I'm excited to find out that the second edition of the Home series will be performed by this narrator and am anticipating the re-release of each and every one. Alexander (Mark) is a wonderful addition to Cardeno's stable of narrators. Can't wait...

Slower build up

This one has a slow but hilarious build up. It's sweet and funny and had a very real feel...except the weddings but that was just too much. Collins does a good job with the narration.

Seth and Eli

6+ stars! I haven't laughed that often or that hard throughout a book in a very long time. Eli is introduced to us at 18 and ready to head out to college. He's brash, bold, and very overtly sexual toward Seth. Seth doesn't do 'casual'. I liked that Seth wanted a man, not a boy. He wanted someone to spend his life with and wasn't willing to settle for less. Eli's reaction to Seth finally being his was beautiful. The wedding invitations at the beginning of each chapter were great. The final chapter was just the cherry on top of the whole thing.

Audiobook: terrific narrator

Sweet Friends to Lovers Romance

Very sweet love story with a friends to lovers theme. Cardeno C. includes a good deal of humor in this one, in the form of "weddings gone wrong". There are some pretty funny mishaps.

I did the audiobook which was narrated by Alexander Collins (who I completely forgot is also Mark Westfield whom I love, so I was pretty happy about that). I really enjoy his voice.

I love this story

This is one of my favorite stories from the Home series. Seth and Eli are relatable characters; the drawn out tension and the self exploration is believable. I liked how the author shows Eli maturing into adulthood. I agonized with them, felt the angst and celebrated the HEA ending. I have re-read the e-book numerous times, now I will listen to the audio book just as often.

Come for the romance, stay for the wacky weddings

First off, I love everything by Cardeno C! But this story, two friends with opposite temperaments and a pretty decent age gap figuring out how a relationship can actually work... it’s one of my favorites.
