Publisher's summary

The last thing she needs after running from one monster is to land in the lair of the devil.

Twenty-one-year-old Ember flees her past with soot on her face, ash in her hair, and a promise. She'll never let another man take away her freedom and treat her like she means nothing. But that is exactly what Maverick Gunn, leader of the notorious Harbingers of Chaos motorcycle club, seeks to do from the moment his lethal gaze locks on her. He burns her with every look. Every touch. Every word. Ember's only hope is to convince him she's nothing like the woman who blackened his soul before he drags her down into the darkness with him.

Warning: for a mature audience, 18+. Contains adult sexual situations and language.

A Great MC Romance

Any additional comments?

This was a great story and interesting listen with the dual narration. The narrators were great and I loved the back and forth narration for each gender dialog. The only confusing part was when the dual narration overlapped. I couldn't tell if it was on purpose or a recording error.

Where does Burning Ember rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have over 1000 books, and I would rate the book at the TOP!! If you don't have this book, buy it now, you will not be disappointed.

What other book might you compare Burning Ember to and why?

This is an Amazing MC book, I would rate this book with all the top authors, that have written MC books.

What does Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved them both! This book was so amazing from the writing to the narrations

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Almost, I finished all 17 fabulous hours in less then 2 days. I think I may have slept 2 hours, but it was worth every second!

Fabulous.... amazing....

the one thing that I absolutely love about this story is it had both male and female narrators... That is something that always stands out for me in an audiobook. I am giving as many stars as I can... The storyline was absolutely amazing and both characters really have this Vibrance about them... They both have these deep and dark pasts... And they are trying everything they can to overcome them with steps and bumps along the way... if you want a truly good romance story with a little bit of Edge and sassiness and a lot of delicious sexiness... This is definitely the story for you... the reason I'm not giving any hints about the story in my review is that I don't want it to be ruined for anyone else... But I will tell you that you will not be disappointed...

All I can say is MORE PLEASE!!!

Any additional comments?

There are two types of motorcycle club books: fluffy, sweet ones that happen to feature a bike and maybe even a club, and then there are the gritty, often a little dark, a lot dangerous to the heroine, gripping but not very happy MC books.

This book was... NEITHER. Totally alllll its own. There was a HEA! And with everything the heroine goes through SHE DESERVED IT. From go, you get this completely different premise, and every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was so, so wrong. I loved this. I had to go see what else Darby Briar has written, and I desperately need a spoiler group so I can decompress with some of these events in here.

The narration was AMAZING =-0 I love books read by one great narrator in both POVs, I love books where two or more great narrators take on POVs. But Dual Narration? I have tried it, never finished a book that had it in it because it sounded to awkward, the timing just a little off, parts forced etc. BUT THESE TWO! They ROCKED the style and I would jump at the chance to listen to them again - in fact, I will. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher, and I am really glad - because this is an experience I would have hated to miss. I have another of theirs queued up in my Kindle already ;D

Leeroy Will has the perfect MC voice repertoire and he had a LOT of guys to keep separate; and he did. You don't have to wonder who is speaking. Really impressive!
Honey Scarlett's voice is a gentler, smoother Kathleen Turners, WOW. Great with allll the females in the cast too.

Darby PLEASE WRITE MORE! And Leeroy & Honey? KEEP READING

Not all rainbows and butterflies but good story

ok first this book is sooooo long but listening to these narrators... I just couldn't stop listening. every time Honey or Leeroy spoke I just did not want to miss a word. this was my first listen from both these narrators and hot damn! They were amazing. The story wasnt hard to listen to as long as you remember this is a story about a girl who's had it tough and has turned to an bike gang for help. its not always gonna be rainbows and butterflies. Still I enjoyed it very much! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

AWESOME MC STORY!!

This was longer than my usual listens, and I have to say it didn't feel like it. This intense story had me on the edge of my seat, and even tearing up a couple of times! Honey Scarlett was amazing, but Leeroy Will reminded me too much of the guy from Criminal Minds and kinda got on my nerves. Even so, this is DEF credit worthy, and I can't WAIT for the next book!!

Gritty and raw

Audiobook: Narrators - Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will

Great dual narration with both narrators giving all the many characters their own distinctive voice. There was a time or two one of the female voices was a bit over the top but it was easy to overlook. About an hour before the end the male voice completely disappeared for a few minutes. When it reappeared, it was very faint and slowly increased in volume. I’m assuming this must have been an issue with my own download but I feel I need to remark upon it just in case it was not.

I originally read this book years ago and loved it. It didn’t hold up as well this time around but I believe it to be due to my own taste changing.

This is a raw and gritty motorcycle club book with a hero and heroine that each had their own issues to deal with. I struggled with the hero some and never really fell in love with him although I did learn to like him quite a bit by the end. I remember loving him during my first read but this time around I did not like that he was with other women after meeting, and feeling physically attracted to, the heroine. That’s just something that I prefer not to happen.

When the hero and heroine do get together, things get pretty hot and steamy fast. There is also a lot of it for a good portion of the book afterwards. However, the author does kick up the drama and action before the end with some great twists.

This has plenty of angst and drama as well as some amazing background development for all the characters, not just the hero and heroine. It’s very well written and pretty hefty in word count for those that like a story that takes some time to read/listen to. I loved so many of the club members and I’m disappointed this author is obviously not carrying on with the series. Thank goodness this does not end with a cliffhanger. Other than a Christmas novella I don’t think she’s written anything else.

Overall, I loved this book the first time I read it, and enjoyed it this time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good MC read if you don’t mind the hero being with other women and if you go into this knowing the likelihood of future books is slim to none.

Loved the story, but not the audiobook.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I just did not like Honey Scarlett. She is too soft spoken and had to turn the volume way up and then BAM Leeroy's voice booms through the speakers. I also didn't care for the different characters voices she tried to do. I absolutely loved this story so I am very sad that I didn't like the audiobook. My recommendation is to read the book, not listen to it.

THIS LISTEN, LIKE THEIR CHEMISTRY, WAS OFF THE CHARTS

I love to get lost in a good MC listen and, with this book, I not only lost myself.... in a blink I'd somehow lost daylight hours and lost practically a whole night's sleep too... but it was oh so deliciously worth it. Because this had the perfect blend of all things I hope to get in a Biker listen.... there was brotherhood, passion, sex, angst, drama, menace, danger, raw grit, humor, friendship, love, an assortment of interesting secondary characters and an off the charts combustible sexual tension between two broken and mentally scarred people after life had unceremoniously kicked them in the gut.

Ember was running scared from an abusive ex, had hit rock bottom and she was all out of luck and options.... until a stranger stepped in, gave her an alternative option and changed the course of Ember's life completely. She took Ember to the Harbingers of Chaos MC and introduced her to a room full of salivating sexy Alpha Bikers as her 'virginal' cousin. And that opened up a whole new can of worms for Ember... which would include sneaky meddling, nasty threats, blatant distrust, in your face taunts and simmering aggression. But, along the way, there was also friendships made, kindness given, compassion shown and acceptance won too as Ember slowly made allegiances and life-long friends.

However, Ember's main source of hostility, anger and dislike was fuelled by one source... The moody miserable President of the MC - Maverick - or, as Ember liked to call him Loos.. short for Lucifer and early on he definitely deserved his nickname as he was all kinds of bad news to Ember wrapped up in a sexy, handsome, buff, tattooed and drool-worthy body. It was lust and hatred at first sight for Maverick because this beautiful secretive red headed stranger resembled the much hated woman who'd betrayed him, destroyed his hopes and dreams... leaving a much darker and distrusting shell of the man he once was. This powder keg of jumbled feelings, pent-up lust, anger and attraction made for some very interesting, angst-filled and highly charged entertaining encounters. Because things never ran smoothly between these two colorful characters as they both fought the pull of chemistry, hid their desires and played the cat and mouse game to perfect precision. It was decided that the only way Ember could stay was to have 1 month's grace... where she could prove herself to be a loyal asset, work hard and agree to become a willing 'gift' from a grateful MC to one of its Members who's about to be released from prison - and after that? well she's anybody's - to have, to use or to claim. However, 1 month is a long time - especially in a Biker MC where tension and tempers run high when fuelled by testosterone, where loyalty is everything, where secrets can destroy, where broken trust is met by an angry mob, bullets and blood lust.... and so nothing quite goes to plan.

I love the crazy descriptive world this talented Author has created, I love all her dysfunctional characters, their feisty interactions, the sense of a strong close brotherhood and the potential storm that's set to unfold in future books. When Ember's past eventually catches up with her it's brutal, bloody and devastating - and there's a few surprises waiting there too. The fallout's earth shattering, heartbreaking and bitter-sweet. But it was Maverick/Lucifer who stole my heart.... a wronged and damaged Alpha Hero whose beautiful dreams, raw passion, obvious sex appeal, possessiveness, caring, patience, understanding, jealousy and protectiveness made me swoon and my heart melt. And let's not forget the outstanding dual POV narration by real life Partners Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will who stuck to their own gender's voices, used CPR on words and brought all the characters to life, injected emotions and passion and whose skilful narration made this listen truly truly outstanding and truly truly epic.

Worth a credit? Absolutely.... 100% YES and, as my night slowly turned into the wee small hours of a brand new day, I was exhausted yes... but I was oh so deliriously happy and satisfied too.

Easily one of the best I've EVER heard.

The strong storyline combined with outstanding narration grabs your imagination and doesn't let go for a second. (And don't worry- there are plenty of red-hot scenes, too 😉) Go, go, go! No more wasting your time reading the next hundred reviews that will back me up- just get it already!
