4 Gritty Star’s

Oh damn this narrator! His voice is smooth as butter well not really more gritty, growly, smexy, but you ladies know what I mean. He could read the phone book and I would listen that’s how yummy it is on my ears.

So I enjoyed this short story, Alex is hiding in a rehab from his dealer. Where he meets Mary one of the counselors.
There attraction toward each other kind of explodes and they get caught after their tryst. He is kicked out of the program and Mary is fired.
And since Alex is still trying to avoid his dealer, Mary brings him home.

I won’t go on to say more than this because it’s really is a great short story and one I am glad I got to listen to. I want more, from not only this narrator but the author.

Have a sung the narrators praises enough.. What can I say he brings the baby to life, it was just so enjoyable to listen to.

I've found a new author!

Again! I totally enjoyed this book. And, I was even more skeptical of this one than the last, or rather second since I listened to them out of order. After listening to the first one though, I knew I wanted to listen to this one. At the very least I would see if I just liked the previous book, or if I'd likely found another author.
Jade Allen took something that I thought sounded far fetched in this one and made it believable. Not only is this not normally my sub genre, but the plot sounded like it might be a little over the top. And, short stories usually don't do it for me. They are usually too short and feel incomplete. But, yet again, I was surprised. And, D.C. Cole? His performance just brings the characters to life. Really great combination here. Can't wait to see what's next.

Awesome Short Story

Would you listen to North again? Why?

Certainly would, I really enjoyed the whole experience. D.C Cole was fantastic, the book was well written and the audio made it fun to listen.

What other book might you compare North to and why?

Nothing comes to mind, it was so well written and performed that I honestly didn't even think about it.

What does D. C. Cole bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He made the book come to life, the humour and feelings of the book become real.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many parts made me laugh, I really enjoyed everything about this book and I look forward to the rest of the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of North?

From the start I was intrigued by the fact that both the hero and heroine are imperfect people who make questionable decisions. I enjoyed their emotional and personal growth over the course of the story. Even though this is book 1 in a series, the author reveals Alex and Mary to be complex personalities.

What about D. C. Cole’s performance did you like?

DC Cole infused just the right amount of heat and grit to bring Alex alive. His female characterization was also well done. This narrator definitely added to the enjoyment of this audiobook.

Nicely crafted sensual romance. This was a strong introduction to a new author and new narrator.

Loved This

Imagine a rock star who has fallen one last time meeting a counselor during his rehab and both finding a way to heal each other. The story is short but filled with enough drama to keep you listening until the end. The sex was there but not prominent like in so many of the books now a days. Instead the author focused on telling the story of how these two unlikely people came to be just what each other needed. They are also able to help successfully bring down a drug ring although that was a bit rushed. How did the police know where to find them? That part needed to be elaborated on. But overall a very good short story. The narrator was very good in this story. He did most of the voices very well.

I was given this book in return for my honest unbiased opinion. This book was really good to me. This is my first time listening to thei author and I really enjoyed the writing style. The narration was great and this book is pretty much a stand alone although it is a part of a series, there isn't that cliffhanger that leaves you pissed at the end. Overall I thought the hot scenes were hot and that this book really was a great story!! I am a Fan. now!!

Well-Written Rocker Short

This is a short, sweet(ish), rocker romance with interesting characters, drama, sex and other action. The H and h are likable, and there's good, humorous banter between them and also with the band members. I really liked it and wished it had been longer, but I'm hoping it's an introductory novella to what will become a series. I left off thinking that, if more of their story is written/recorded, I can't wait to hear it.

I loved D.C. Cole's voices for the various characters, both male and female, as well as his use of emotions and inflection. I think he was a great fit for this type of book. He was very believable as a "male rocker" and did a decent job with the female's voice. Being the picky chick I am, there were times where I thought some of his vowel sounds were not quite right, and at first, I thought it was supposed to be the male character's accent, but as the story progressed, I didn't think so. I can just say that I did notice it and thought it was a bit odd: dealer, pale, heel, full and ideas were pronounced as "diller," "pell," "hill," "fool" and "idizz." In general conversation, that's not a big deal. In voice work, it's still minor but may be something to work on. Even so, I found this only mildly distracting and enjoyed the overall performance, and I would happily listen to audiobooks voiced by him in the future. I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review.

Wish it were longer

Good short story. Believe that it could have been lengthened and given more depth without becoming dull. Narrator did really well. Look forward to future books in the series.

Quick fun and sexy romance!

This short, fast paced story took me by surprise. I knew nothing about it before going in, and loved that it had a little of everything. It was funny, sarcastic, emotional, sexy and suspenseful. It also had a depth that made it satisfying. North is in rehab for more reasons than getting clean. Mary is his counselor and tries to help him as he suffers the side affects of withdrawal. He doesn't really like her at first but that soon changes for both of them. Mary has her flaws as well and their chemistry soon draws them together. There are some twists and turns that happen and a bit of suspense towards the end adding to the excitement. I really liked the narrator, D. C. Cole. His voice was hypnotizing and his inflections were spot on. He really made this book more enjoyable for me. If you like fast paced, sexy, funny, and suspenseful stories, you should definitely give this a listen!
