Chuck Ramsey is a traveling con man fronting as a comedian. After a gig on Earth, he picks Mordecai The Brown, a hitchhiking wizard on the run from his own kind. They cross paths with wizard-hunters and smuggling kingpins, sheriffs from backwater border planets and underworld syndicates. Between Chuck's silver tongue and Mort's mystical mastery, they manage to get in and out of trouble on planets large and small. Money comes and goes, with the biggest score always the one yet to come. Danger sniffs at their trail wherever they go, but somehow, they find a way to keep going.

Chuck and Mort make many friends in their travels.

They make even more enemies.

And along the way, the two of them inadvertently help raise a boy to become one of the galaxy's unsung heroes.

Mirth & Mayhem is the full book collection of all 16 missions chronicling the adventures of the starship Radio City and the Ramsey family's adventures with houseguest/refugee Mort, along with six short stories.

The series follows a mismatched duo of itinerant comedian and outlaw wizard as they roam the galaxy trying to eke out a living and stay ahead of the consequences of their actions.

Black Ocean: Mirth & Mayhem looks back at an earlier era in the Black Ocean universe, and returning readers will get to see how some of their favorite characters came to be. Fans of morally gray heroes and slick-talking conmen will love this series.

Love this universe

This fills in a lot of gaps from the first two in this universe and Mort is awesome.

A great listen for its length!

I really like the of clash between magic and technology. I purchased mainly because of the length of the story. The characters were interesting and this book kept my attention throughout.

Ya read one you learn the players

Another great storyline by JS Moran. I love the black ocean series. it's long. it's complete. it gives you the backstories. it answers all the questions that you have as you're reading JS Moran is a great author

This was a great listen. It was nice to find out how things began. Awesome narrator as well he always does an amazing job.

Fun backstory

Really shows the backstory to Carl, Mort and the Ramsey family. I'm really impressed with the authors ability to build nuanced characters, Chuck and Mort are actually pretty despicable people when you get down to it, but the layers and details about each one makes them likeable despite their short coming, they are both human and fallible. Narrator is one of my favorite and brings every character to life. Totally worth it to get the 90+ hours of listening. now I want to register to Outlaws again

Solid, now i need to listen to the main story again to appreciate the nuances
