Publisher's summary

Primarily caused by trauma in childhood, symptoms of borderline personality disorder most frequently show up in teenage years and early adulthood.

Do you recognize problems such as:

  • Fear of abandonment?
  • Erratic behavior?
  • Poor self-image?
  • Disproportionate emotional response?
  • Self-harm?

Borderline Personality Disorder Survival Guide for You and Your Relationship educates you on the causes and conditions of BPD while providing a variety of powerful strategies and new techniques you or your loved one can put to use to start feeling better immediately. Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) has a 77 percent success rate in the first year, eliminating the behaviors that classify BPD.

Here is just a small fraction of what you will discover:

  • Ways to support someone suffering from BPD while also maintaining healthy boundaries of acceptable behavior
  • BPD symptoms require immediate attention and how to recognize them
  • The long-term fix to stop the overwhelming nature of intensive feeling and your most challenging triggers
  • Steps to avoid the common pitfall of jumping to conclusions and never think “how did this happen?” again
  • The most essential techniques to live a healthy romantic relationship
  • Practical DBT strategies and techniques for quick relief in less than 60 minutes
  • Alternative treatment modalities for BPD you haven´t heard of
  • Ways to customize your treatment method based on your dominant symptoms and personality
  • And much more.

Many people suffering from BPD hesitate to try available treatments because the problem can be painful to face. They may also resist because they tried treatment unsuccessfully in the past. The good news about treatment options for BPD is that they are solution-oriented. You can quickly determine if one works or not and do it without having to dredge up a lot of past details.

Comforting

Anyone who struggles with Borderline or loves someone who has Borderline should read this!! It is very comforting knowing the emotions and emptiness and numbness are common struggles in people with BPD. I wish I had read this book about 30 years ago!! And I wish I could give a copy to all friends and family, The chapter addressing ways loved ones can help is probably the best thing I’ve read since I was diagnosed in 2020.

Thank you 💚💜!!!!

This helped me understand myself and someone I love:

When looking for a book to learn about BPD I looked at all of them and their reviews. Something told me this was the one. I finished it in a couple days and for the first time in 36 years I understood myself without feeling ashamed. Thank you for the start of my journey in understanding myself more.

Good just beware of opinions

This books info helps map out symptoms. It was however jarring to hear words like “it will be hard.” Ouch. What if we think different like “it will be a new skill” , exciting new option” “takes work but we are certainly capable”. Stick with it!

good information horrible narator

The information was good and helped me understand my niece better and help me avoid triggering her.
It was difficult to listen to though because the reading was SO BAD! It was clear that the reader does not understand sentence structure. How did she ever get this job??!

Great Content Performed Poorly

The number of sentences misread for lack of comprehension of the reader quickly goes from frustrating to intolerable. Add in mispronunciation and one wonders who is responsible for the entire production. But the content is good. But the book instead.
