Publisher's summary

Mitch Rapp faces an Iranian foe bent on destabilizing the Middle East in the newest thriller from Vince Flynn’s #1 New York Times bestselling series, now written by the “worthy successor to Tom Clancy” (Publishers Weekly) Don Bentley.

April 2011: On a remote mountaintop overlooking the remains of the Iranian nuclear weapons program, Azad Ashani witnesses a Quds Force demonstration of a capability meant to upend America’s war in the Middle East. Ashani, director of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security and Irene Kennedy’s former back channel to the Iranian government, recognizes the demonstration’s true significance, and the nation-ending conflict it will provoke. Alone, Ashani stands no chance of preventing this rush to madness.

But with the help of one man, he just might.

In Washington, DC, CIA director Irene Kennedy briefs the president that the operational window to kill or capture Osama bin Laden at his recently discovered compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan is rapidly closing. But before he’ll authorize a commando raid on Pakistani soil, the president demands irrefutable proof of bin Laden’s presence.

Proof he trusts just one man to provide.

Preventing a looming war in the Middle East while delivering justice for the nearly 3,000 Americans killed on 9/11 would be a big ask for anyone.

Mitch Rapp isn’t just anyone.

Author was great, narrator was great

Glad to see a younger Rapp again! Story was action packed and author did a great job. New narrator was a perfect replacement

New narrative disappointing

The right narrator makes a book. This is a very established series and understanding the author had to change and the style shows what makes it worse is to throw in a voice change. Instead of blindly ordering Mitch Rapp books I will preview them first.

I love the “flashback-ish-ness” (pretty sure I may have made something up there) of the new book.

An authors note would have been a bit helpful in regards to the “Previously on Mitch Rapp” nature of this story.

Returned to his roots...

Mitch Rapp as he is meant to be... Excellent intersecting historical events with fiction... Reinvigorated the franchise.

I kept looking at the publication date.

I usually don't comment on books unless they are great or really bad. This book was neither of those extremes. I kept thinking that this was out of cycle somehow. It made me feel like the father of the bride who fell asleep after his 25 year old daughter's wedding rehearsal and woke up the day before her Quincianera (15 years old). Everyone is in the right time except for the reader.
On the other hand it was great when older characters who had died or moved on as part of the story suddenly popped up. Overall it was less than a Mitch Rapp story needs to be.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Thoroughly enjoyed this author and narrator. Classic Mitch Rapp thriller with all the favorite Vince Flynn characters; even Stan Hurley!

Great addition to the Mitch Rapp series.

Fantastic book and great timeline for the series. Loved seeing what Mitch and crew was doing during the lead up to raid on Bin Laden’s compound. The Epilogue was perfection with Mitch and Irene.

Great Retro Story

The previous few Mitch Rapp stories were getting somewhat strange so it was good to go retro. I prefer John G the previous narrator as he does an amazingly good job bringing the characters to life. Hopefully some new material gets placed in future Rapp books but I will remain loyal to any future Rapp stories.
