Publisher's summary

In college, Griffin McCray and his four best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore PD. Declan Gray would head to the FBI, and Parker Mitchell would go on to graduate school as a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation, and their world - and friendships - crumbled. Now Griffin is a park ranger at Gettysburg, having left life as a SWAT-team sniper when a case went bad. The job is mostly quiet - until the day he captures two relic hunters uncovering skeletal remains near Little Round Top.

Griffin just wants the case to go away, but charming forensic anthropologist Finley Scott determines that the body is modern - a young social justice lawyer missing since spring - and all evidence points to the work of an expert sniper. When FBI agent Declan Gray takes over the case, past and present collide. Griffin soon realizes he'll need to confront some of the darkest days of his life if he - and those he cares about - are going to escape a downward spiral of murder that crosses continents.

Surprise!

I was surprised that in the most difficult of situations, they reached out to God. I often do that and wondered if anyone else had. Therese Plummer, as always...acts her narrations, doesn’t just read. Her male and female voices are believable. Great read...needed more romance though yo be part of the romance package.

MORE !!!!!!!!!

Love this story - set in my home state and most favorite historic site - I hope the series continues to explore all the characters - This could have easily been 2 books.

Awesome

Dani Pettrey is my new fav author and Therese Plummer my new fav narrator! All because of Cold Shot. So glad to read a book that I didn't know who "did it" until almost the end. Very refreshing!

Pretty good book..

I enjoyed the story line, however, the unusual names of the characters made it confusing sometimes. I can't help but wonder if I had actually read a physical but I might have enjoyed it a little bit more. It was still a very good read!

Pretty good book

One of the things I really like about Dani's writing is that the characters in her books are realistic. The people who are believers are not 'bleached-white-as-snow' perfect characters. They have made mistakes, have fears, deal with struggles - just like all humans do.

It took me a little longer to get through the whole book because I really had a hard time listening to the narrator. She was not so bad with the actual dialogue between the characters...but the narrative of everything else was nearly unbearable. Every line was delivered in a breathy manner, the last word of each sentence lengthened and pulled as if there were something mysterious...or maybe even sensual...about to happen. There may have been a couple of places where that would be appropriate, but every line? NO!

I would recommend the book to friends...but maybe in print form rather than the audio version I downloaded. If there were a different narrator I would recommend the audio version.

I do enjoy Dani's work, do will be downloading the next in the series.

Excellent book & great performance!

I loved this book. I am a fan of Dani Pettrey but hadn't listened to one of her books in a while so had a hard time turning this off! The characters were interesting, fun, and lovable. I was drawn into the story and liked the twists and depth to it. Loved the solid, but not overbearing faith if the characters & the challenges they had to overcome. As always, Therese Plummer does s stellar job of narration!! Thank you Dani & Therese for a fabulous few hours of listening pleasure. I'm on to get #2 in the series now!
