Book 2 Even Better than Book 1

I really enjoyed Sand and Shadows Book 2. The action started right away and there were several interesting twists. Like in the first book, there was a Shelby crossover, and I have a feeling the next Shelby Nichols book will have an Ella crossover. I look forward to reading the next books of both series!

I enjoyed this book so very much. I’m so glad it was available on audible as I have macular degeneration and can’t see well enough to read. I couldn’t put this book down it was that good!

Another great book

I love Colleen Helme. I haven't read any of her books that weren't wonderful.
The stories are exciting and compelling.
The narrator does a decent job.
My only complaint is the time between books. It takes years to get the next episode.

Ok

Certainly not as good as Shelby Nichols. It seems to be missing some of the whimsy that makes Carrots so good. Still, it’s a good listen, and a good tie in for Shelby fans.

3.5 Stars 🌟

I need to preface this by saying that I am a huge fan of the Shelby Nichols series (all 16 books) and I did enjoy the first book in this new spin off. Where the problem came with this book was that the plot did not unfold in any type of a desirable manner. What does that mean? Well, it felt choppy....so very choppy.

The two MC's spent the entire book jumping from one disaster to the next. I know, I know, that is the total map of the Shelby Nichols series, but for some reason, it didn't seem to work as well as it does with Shelby. Maybe because this world is still being built (even though the greater world foundation has already been laid.) Honestly, I'm not even sure what it was other than I kept thinking "seriously?" Their behaviors and actions didn't feel natural. In a way it felt like they were TRYING to make bad decisions.

Obviously, I didn't hate the book and I am looking forward to seeing where this is going next, but I will say that this wasn't a smooth easy read. I was pulled out of the story many times by actions that just didn't feel believable. Without going into spoilers, an example of this was just the attempt to leave Las Vegas. It became almost comical in the end.

I do like Bella and I really like Creed and they make a great couple. The introduction of a new issue at the end is interesting and made me curious as to what is going to happen next, so that is good. Very good.

great narrators for a great book

Colleen Helme's spin off series about Ella's St.John is off and running and Shelby has made appearances in book 1 and 2 which has been awesome . The narrator is good for this series and easy on the ears. great book whether reading or listening to. highly recommend all of Helme books. Can't wait to continue with Ella's journey. looking forward to next in series.

Better than the first!

The first book in the series was pretty good, but this one was even better! I love the character development & more questions being answered.
