Story
Tegan, the young air hostess who quite unintentionally became a member of the TARDIS's crew, wants to return to her own time, but when the Doctor tries to take her back to Heathrow Airport in the 20th century the TARDIS lands instead on the outskirts of 17th-century London. The Doctor and his companions receive a decidedly unfriendly welcome - but it soon becomes clear that the sinister activities of other visitors from time and space have made the villagers extremely suspicious of outsiders.

Publisher's summary
Matthew Waterhouse narrates this novelisation of a classic 1982 TV serial featuring the Fifth Doctor, as played on TV by Peter Davison.
When the TARDIS materialises on an alien spacecraft, the commander of the ship - the reptilian Monarch - invites the Doctor, Adric, Nyssa and Tegan to continue their journey to Earth in his company. Monarch's hospitality even extends to a generous offer to liberate the time travellers from the shortcomings of their bodies and replicate them as androids - so much more practical. Although Adric finds this proposal extremely attractive, the Doctor has good reason to be suspicious of Monarch's motives....
Matthew Waterhouse, who played Adric in Doctor Who, narrates Terrance Dicks's novelisation of a four-part TV serial by Terence Dudley.

Heartwarming
What about Matthew Waterhouse’s performance did you like?
Soothing voice. His own enjoyment of the program is contagious.
Any additional comments?
In a word, the audio of Four to Doomsday is "heartwarming." It's an interesting adventure, pretty much exactly like the television serial from which it was adapted, very slightly extended, and it all ends with the characters snugly back in the TARDIS.
