About this listen

Christopher Allan Roberts thought he had a promising future: captain of the football team with the promise of a scholarship to play for Alabama, his high school sweetheart and best friend for as long as he could remember, Amanda, by his side, and the love and support of his family. One night, one mistake changed everything. Chris moves to New York, adrift and alone. A walk one night brings him to the flashing lights, loud music and thrumming bodies at Club Berlin. A flyer in the men's room promises fame and fortune for anyone willing to go on camera and have sex, with another man. Money is money, and how hard could it be, right? Christopher Allan Roberts becomes Kris Alen, All Cocks' newest addition, a gay for pay porn star.

Lincoln Carter is honest with everyone in his life, including his family, about who he is and about his sexual preferences. Linc Larson, the openly bisexual gay porn star, will do anything with anyone, which pretty much writes his ticket in a versatility-charged industry. It's not his sexuality that interferes with his personal life; it's his inability to trust. What Linc wants right now, more than anything, is the chance to do a scene with All Cocks' newest acquisition, Kris Alen. Six-foot-two with auburn hair, an exquisitely toned and inked up body, Kris Alen is sex personified. Linc doesn't know if it's the "I want the shiny new toy" aspect that calls to him, or the distant and wounded expression that haunts Kris's eyes.

Linc figures out early on that Kris is only working the gay for pay angle that All Cocks brings to his bank account. Can a bisexual man with trust issues break down the barriers that Kris has built around himself and help Christopher overcome the painful past he is running from?

Great story good narration

Kris kills his girlfriend by driving drunk in his last year of high school. He loses all his friends, family, the scholarship, everything. He’s devastated and broke. While living on friends’ couches in New York he finds Gay For Pay and decides to go for it – he’s got nothing to lose.

Linc is happy with his life as a bi-sexual porn star – but leery of relationships since his last boyfriend cheated on him with one of his co-stars.

They don’t hook up right away, but instead become friends. As that friendship grows so do their feelings. Even in this industry, they manage to keep sex out of their relationship for a very long time. When Kris finally admits to his feelings, Linc is already right there with him.

The question now is – where do they go from here?

**

This was such a surprising book! It was not at all what I was expecting. Having read a few “gay for pay porn” books, I was expecting Kris and Linc to be hooked up from the start and for them to fall for one another that way. Instead… Gabe is the wonderfully sweet guy who introduces Kris to his gay porn career and he ends up really being a great friend.

I loved the seemingly honest look at gay for pay that we get here. Kris struggles to stay hard at times, he still wants to date women, he likes Gabe because he’s so feminine in nature… but he truly likes Linc as a person and that’s what initially attracts him.

I think this is one of the few books out there that put forth a compelling “demi-sexual” story in that I do believe Kris is NOT gay. He loves Linc for Linc and not guys in general. Sure, you can call him bi-sexual in that he eventually comes to enjoy both gay and het sex but in terms of romance I think he’s a demi-sexual.

The sequels are already published – YAY! – and show an interesting “pre-quel” to the throuple that is Kris’ boss and his partners – which makes me psyched because I had wanted to know more about them as they were introduced. The third book is the slutty Kory who steals Linc’s beau but it looks like he gets redemption.

I’m excited to read the next two books and highly recommend this.

4.5 of 5 stars (there were some editing and grammatical mistakes that take it from a 5 star, but minor.)

Audio

Tony Clark is a new narrator for me and he does a nice job of giving each person a unique voice and he attempts both the southern accent of Kris and the Eastern European accent of Victory bravely! There are times when he’s a bit flat in terms of emotion but not enough to detract from the overall enjoyment of this as an audiobook.

Again, highly recommended.

I liked it, but the narrator didn't do it justice.

One of my co-reviewers has raved about this series, so when I saw that some of the installments were available as part of Audible's Romance Package, I decided to give it a try. I enjoyed Kris's story. I felt badly for the young man who lost everything over a stupid decision that far too many people -- and not just young people -- make on a daily basis. His guilt was made worse by his family's reaction, so I was glad to see that he had such a good friend in Michael. When Kris decides to meet with Viktor, of A.C. (see series title), I was glad to see how the author showed his doubts and concerns, rather than making him overconfident in the interview as it added to the realism of Kris's story. Viktor's decision to assign Kris another gay-for-pay actor as a mentor provided a plausible way for some of the more technical details and the "things you want to know but were always afraid to ask" questions covered, sometimes in a very amusing manner.

Because the story is told from the different characters' points of view, we learn pieces of information as they do. This is particularly interesting when it comes to Kris's realization that he had developed feelings for Lincoln. I would have expected a few more hints along the way, before the "Ohmigod, I'm attracted to Lincoln!" revelation occurred -- even if they were just fleeting thoughts. Then again, I may have missed some cues by listening to the audiobook rather than reading the novel.

While I enjoyed the story, I'm not as big of a fan of narration. Tony Clark does a nice job in his narration; however, there were a few times that I couldn't tell who was speaking or whose head I was in because he slipped out of character occasionally. Fortunately, the author provided plenty of well-spaced cues to identify the speaker, but the voice slips did pull me out of the story a couple of times. I will continue with the series as I'm interested to see whose story is next and hopeful that with family-style relationships being built among the owners and employees of A.C., that I'll get to see more of Kris and Lincoln and how their relationship is progressing.

NOTE: I listened to this title via Audible's Romance Package.

okay story, meh narrator

The narrator sounds like he is reading a book aloud instead of acting it out. His accents are all over the place and come and go. I couldn't even tell where Linc is supposed to be from. He sounds like a character from an old timey movie.

Hot men...what more is there to say?

Having the main character already friends with a gay male, it makes the transition for him more believable. Although he did seem to go from just modelling to getting it on with gusto quite quickly, it didn't seem wrong or forced. The storyline was dealt with in a way that was an easy listen and drew you in with the descriptive writing. Having Tony Clark's nice voice to listen to didn't hurt either.

enjoyable read

Both characters are porn stars and one identifys as strait until he meets Link and Link makes him realize inside he never knew he had. He never had it in him to move on after losing the girl he loved long ago due to a mistake he made. He Carrie's the burden of her death all these years along with the manslaughter charge. I never really care to see drawn out sex scenes with other people that have nothing to do with the main couple of even it is a book about porn stars. I feel like those scenes could have faded to black or have been left out. This story was a steamy and fun listen other than that. I wanted to believe more of their chemistry in the beginning and throughout the story but had a hard time with it but I really did enjoy how the author wrapped up the book at the end with a super sweet moment between the two characters.

Chris & Linc!

I really enjoyed this story and it looks like it's going to be a great series. Great introduction to many different characters who are all like one big family. Chris and Linc are wonderful together and I really liked watching them dance around one another until they finally gave in to their attraction. It wasn't easy, Chris needs to forgive himself for a tragedy years ago, and Linc needs to learn to trust again and get rid of his ex. The narrator was okay, I just wasn't convinced with all of his character portrayals and his overall tone for the story. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

A quick story !

Firstly narraion was pretty good (I had no Issue ). I enjoyed the plot with the guilt and hardships kris goes through on the new path . I also enjoyed all the supporting characters and can't wait to see what is next for them . I only wish their was more of a relationship development between kris and Linc .

great story

Gay for Pay is the first book in the All Cocks Stories series by T.M. Smith. The story is fun, sweet, sexy and had a few moments that pulled at the feelings. I liked Chris and Linc, they were good characters and had chemistry. Supporting characters are fun!!!! OMG! I want all their stories now!.
We get a bit of a taste of some other characters POV in the book, but most of the book is from Chris and a few Linc love's. It was cool to see things from different characters. There were a few times that the flow of the story seemed odd and it was more story telling than story showing style of writing but the overall experience of the book was great and I do want to read more in the series.
Narration by Tony Clark. Clear recording and great voicework that fit well with the story. The personalities came through!.

A good start to a fun series

I enjoyed the story for the most part, but I wished there was a bit more background given to the characters. It seemed like I was missing something during the entire story.

Other characters had their own issues, which I assume come into play in the rest of the series, but sometimes it was a distraction from Chris and Link's story.

I enjoyed the family style that the company boasted. It was a fun environment and with so much going on at all times and so many people to get advice from, the story was very engaging.

I'm definitely going to be interested in continuing the series.

Gay for pay

Any additional comments?

I really liked this audiobook.I listen to this all in one sitting and wish it were longer because I really loved getting to know these characters. This is a story about love, loss, regret, loneliness, letting go and second chances at new love. Very good story and narration.
