Publisher's summary

This program contains original music. The title track, "Evil in Me," is performed by The Maxines and written by Brom and AJ Grey of The Maxines.

Evil in Me
is bestselling author Brom's newest novel of possession, damnation, and rock 'n' roll, where one woman must get the world singing in order to save her soul.

Aspiring musician Ruby Tucker has had enough of her small rural town and dysfunctional family. But a falling out with her best friend and bandmate has killed her dreams of escaping and making it big in the Atlanta punk scene.

While helping her eccentric neighbor organize his religious artifacts, an ancient ring clamps down on her finger—possessing her with the spirit of a blood-thirsty demon. There’s no exorcizing it unless hundreds of people chant a spell to set Ruby free. And what’s worse, the ring is a beacon for evil, drawing an unimaginably wicked mob straight to Ruby, hungry for her flesh.

If Ruby can get her band back together, she has a shot at salvation. It's time for her to face the music and put her whole soul into a song—one powerful enough to raise some Hell.

Critic reviews

Evil in Me is a delightfully wicked tale packed to the brim with mayhem, music, and no small amount of monstrous, malevolent magic. Make no mistake, Brom’s latest is a stone-goddamn-killer.” —Matthew Lyons, author of A Mask of Flies

“Maximalist gonzo horror fun.” —Booklist

“Like the very best punk songs, Evil in Me is a searing, soul-shredding journey that doesn’t let up until the music ends, leaving your nerves raw and humming from the experience. The demonic feedback will ring through your memory long after you’ve turned the final page.” —Scott Leeds, author of Schrader’s Chord

A different angle from Brom, but still enjoyable

like the title says, it's a different angle from what the author typically creates but it is still enjoyable.

Another great story from the mind of Brom. And an earwig song ta boot! The narrator really gave it the right punch. All around good time of nightmare journey.

Brom is Back!

I loved this book. It has the perfect blend of whimsy and creepy with the added element of musical performance. Since Brom was an 80's goth, I feel like this book captured a bit of his nostalgic youth. The beginning felt a little corny, but as the story progressed, it got better and better. Narrators did a fantastic job. I wasn't a fan of Slewfoot, so I was happy to hear that Brom hasn't lost his touch.

Great as to be expected from Brom

Wonderful story, full of twists and turns. It allowed the “reader” to brim on the edge of anxiety and hope, then true to fashion, have the rug pulled. Would recommend

Good but too long

Good but too long. It lagged at times which made it a frustrating listen. Enjoyed it overall.

Love!

Another masterpiece from Brom! The narrator was perfect. The story grabs you and sucks you in, almost immediately. I love him. He has to be my favorite author, and I'm never disappointed when I listen to his books. This one made me laugh out loud, brought tears to my eyes, and gave me goosebumps. I highly recommend it!
