Publisher's summary

Victor Bayne's job as a PsyCop involves tracking down dead people and getting them to spill their guts about their final moments. It's never been fun, per se. But it's not usually this annoying.

Vic has just moved in with his boyfriend Jacob, he can't figure out where anything's packed, and his co-worker is pressuring him to have a housewarming party.

Can't a guy catch a break?

On a more sinister note, Vic discovers there's absolutely no trace of him online. No trace of anyone else who trained at "Camp Hell," either. Everyone Vic knows has signed a mysterious set of papers to ensure his "privacy." The contracts are so confidential that even Vic has never heard of them. But Jacob might have.

What other secrets has Jacob been keeping?

Awesome

JCP does it again. Another great mystery with Vic Blayne and Jacob Marks. I love their romance and love the intriguing mystery they deal with at a nursing home. Also, more of Vics search for the truth about his past.

Perfection. Just like the other books

Gomez Pugh continues to astound me with his voicing. Every single character that Jordan Castillo Price took the time to develop is so vivid with his voice. He's taken the series to a whole new level!

secrets threatening to destroy them

I enjoyed the narrator. I am not sure why some were complaining, but I had no difficulty with his "Vic" voice.

Vic and Jacob have moved in together and they are still trying to hit their stride as both cops and a couple. Add my favorite character, Lisa and her Si-No gift, and Carolyn, Jacob’s honest partner, this story was like thanksgiving with family—full of drama!
The focus of the story was still on law enforcement and solving crimes, but each character was trying to make peace with various past issues. But those secrets were threatening to destroy their relationships. Vic hasn’t completely accepted that Jacob loves him. Vic also wants to help Jacob do his job. Vic wants to find out what really happened at Camp Hell. Vic was just going through it. It is great that Jacob is a calmer character because he is a stabilizer for Vic. But we got to see Jacob wrestle with ethical decisions at his job and unfortunately he sought help from his ex-Crash.
In the end, the couple did settle in and they end in a good place—together.

The author does a great job with the pacing and development of the characters. I admit that I was a tad judgment of Vic in book 1, but I have grown to really enjoy Vic. I have also had my reservations about Jacob, but the last two books have erased those doubts. I am looking forward to see what secrets Viv and the gang will uncover in Camp Hell.

Loved it

If you could sum up Secrets in three words, what would they be?

When surrounded by Psy people try not to do something shady.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Secrets?

When Vic discovered the gym bag, that was awful.

Have you listened to any of Gomez Pugh’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. He is always great. You get a feeling for the story. Plus you can differentiate between characters. And his females don't sound like drag queens.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed at Vic's antics. He is funny without trying.

Any additional comments?

Fun book to anyone in love with paranormal stories. But read the previous books first.

Has a cliffhanger and I'm not even mad

Honestly the books just get better and better. Why did it take me so long to listen to these! Soon good.

good

What I found interesting about Secrets is that we really get to see how very naive Victor has been about himself and his situation. It's not that I don't understand why, but it's nice to see him getting clean(ish) and seeing with clearer eyes. The mystery in the story is really secondary to the realities of living with Psyop abilities, which made for some interesting considerations. I was glad to see Jacob play a bigger role than in the last book. I still feel like he's a bit of a sexy, growling, biting, place-holder compared to the first books. Though I still adore him. But I'm hoping he'll come back into more detail as the series progresses.

Last of the short format, enjoy it while it lasts!

This book really serves to transition from the first three short format stories to books that are twice the length. Vic digs deeper into his surly attitude as he and Jacob move into their new home together. What makes this book important is the set up to the upcoming titles that are closer to 11 hours in length, and focus on Camp Hell. This transition title has frustrating moments where Vic's trust issues have the potential to poison his relationship. Lisa will remain a challenge, as does Jacob's partner Carolyn. And then there's Jacob's ex, who continues to be difficult. If you're noticing a pattern for the book - good. It takes some time for things to even out, but work with it, and enjoy the pacing.

Gomez Pugh is consistent, and I generally enjoy his interpretation. Occasionally the really bad Chicago style accent pops up, but overall he is very capable.

This series remains entertaining and is recommended.

Well spent time

I love this series. I've been in search of a m/m book that isn't all lovey dovey. The relationship between the two main guys is romantic and hot but not unicorns and skittles sappy. Then there's the backdrop of sci-fi combining my favorite genres. Well worth your time.

One of the best paranormal m/m series

This is one of the best paranormal m/m stories I've listened to. The whole series so far has been great. Amazing storytelling, relatable characters, great writing and narration. Will definitely listen to the rest of the series.
