Publisher's summary

Audiobook 3 of the Dark Imperium trilogy.

The destinies of primarch and Imperial Regent Roboute Guilliman and his traitorous brother Mortarion come together for the climactic battle of the Plague Wars.

Listen to It Because

It's the throwdown you've been waiting for, as Guilliman and Mortarion work out 10,000 years of pent-up resentment in a clash for the ages.

The Story

The paths of Roboute Guilliman and his fallen brother Mortarion bring them inexorably together on Iax. Once a jewel of the Imperium, the garden world is dying as the plans of the Lord of Death to use it as a fulcrum to drag the stellar realm of Ultramar into the warp come to deadly fruition.

While Guilliman attempts to prevent the destruction of his kingdom, Mortarion schemes to bring his brother low with the Godblight, a disease created in the Cauldron of Nurgle itself, made with the power to destroy a son of the Emperor.

Primarchs clash on the ravaged landscapes of Iax. The gods go to war and the wider galaxy balances on a knife-edge of destruction. As something powerful stirs in the sea of souls, only one thing is certain – no matter who wins the last great clash of the Plague War, the repercussions of victory will echo through eternity....

Ku’Gath is the Eeyore of Nurgle’s Garden

Listen to it because team Nurgle brew up a heady mixture of disease, pestilence, and whimsy. Poor Ku’gath can’t seem to get out of his own way. Humorless Mortarian doesn’t realize he’s the insufferable drip of the garden party. The jolly Bubondubon can’t help making jokes.

Reboote learns the galaxy isn’t quite as black and white as he thinks.

The Future of 40k Begins

Most of 40k has been the effect of 30k. This is where 50k begins.

I love all Warhammer 30k, 40k, bolter porn, horror, hardboiled Eisenhorn...whatever is coming out is being added to this rich lore that is Warhammer 40K. This is the first time I felt like I was on the cusp of something. *spoiler alert*
Horus began a heresy. Most things in 40K relate to things 10k years before it. Listen to this book and tell me that you don't feel like we are in for something new. Rules are changing, this is the next generations lore. Oh, you didn't know Mortarion picked up the mantle of Avenging Son out of the respect he has for his beloved brother Robute after he was sent on a penance crusade by Him on Terra for Empire Secundus. The Emperor told Robute that he needed him to go into the Eye to pick up Rogal but the Lord of Ultramar said the Lion could do it.

Just great

Loved how the trilogy ended. Such a range of voice and emotion. I laughed a few times as well.

an amazing conclusion to the trilogy

well written, great characters, great dialog, reveals a 40k fan cannot miss. the narrative goes into the state of the Emporer additionally what was said during the Primarch meeting with the God Emperor. it also gives a deeper look into Nurgels hierarchy and even the Plague God himself makes an "appearance." anyway definitely recommend 👌
