HEATING UP THE HOLIDAYS

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. These stories are classy well-written stories. I have Icecapade (last story) and loved it. The others are just as good

What other book might you compare His for the Holidays to and why?

I would compare it to a series of books by Andrew Grey (Uncorked & Bottled Up).

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

Very good. Brought the different characters to life!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Fun even in Summer

Four cute stories with romantically unbelievable endings. Just a beautiful set of tales. Enjoy them.

2 of 4

"Mistletoe at Midnight" was just barely Ok, it sort of lacked point. --

"Nine Lights over Edinburgh". Plain bad. Annoying narration matched equally annoying story. Unhuman amounts of schmaltz. Skipped some parts toward the end. --

"I Heard Him Exclaim". Real good and cute one. Great narration. --

"Icecapade". Best among the stories even though Robert sounded a bit off inho. --

All in all, a good buy since stories #2 and 3 make up for #1 and 2

Interesting choices

All the narrators get 4 stars. They were all solid even if the stories were not.

This was definitely not my favorite holiday anthology.

Mistletoe at Midnight

3 Stars

A story about a second chance with first love. I liked it and thought it was cute.

Nine Lights Over Edinburgh

2 stars

I have to say this story was not very festive. In fact, McBride is an extremely unlikable character. The only saving grace was Tobias.

I Heard Him Exclaim

2.5 stars

A chance meeting that leads to an adorable romance.

Icecapade

2 stars

Noel an ex cat burglar is has a thing for FBI agent Robert Cuff. After one night together he can't seem to shake him. After quitting the business and keeping himself clean for 8 years an unexpected visitor arrives on his doorstep.

It was short and ok. Not big on the romance in this one.

Adorable and Fun

I don't normally enjoy short stories. They either don't give the characters time to develop or just as you're growing to love the characters the story is over. I'll make an exception for this collection, though.

It was lighthearted, warm, and adorable. I genuinely enjoyed every story.

It was really fun getting to listen to each as I decorated my house for Christmas. :)

Great readers. Worth your money.

deliciously decadent guilty pleasures

yeap, it is a bit cheesy. yeap, it is shmaltzy and romantic: it is christmas romance people!!
the narrations are indeed all good, if not awesome. as usual, jack lefleur excels.
all stories are entertaining, heart warming and unusual.
yes, harper fox is long, dramatic and convoluted, but at least it shows that if he gives up his arthur-and-the-round-table-knights obsession, he can write quite well.
no, there are no surprizes, no cliffhangers, no mysteries - it's a CHRISTMAS ROMANCE antology!! sometimes you like to read (hear) a story for the craft of wordsmithing. and there is no one better than josh lanyon for that! though both za maxfield and lb gregg are giving her a good fight in this anthology. all the stories are creative and give good modern spins on age-old stories: santa has a red car instead of nine reindeer and has to comply with artificial imaging stereotypes; cinderella hides crimes not poverty, and leaves behind a mystery, instead of a glass slipper; snow white is another prince not princes, and the evil step-mother is a bigoted father; and the poor trying-to-please-everyone-and-failing-miserably antihero that everybody can't help but love despite their better judgement, finally decides to be true to his own heart.
I heard these stories as very witty, very delicate parodies of "all the known tropes" heavily mixed with modern satire.
definitely a very smart gift for the holidays ;-)
enjoy!

A Different Holiday Collection

Really surprised at the variety of genre in these four titles. One hardly seemed like a Christmas story at all. But they were all well written and entertaining. Great collection of you are looking for something a bit different this holiday season.

A favorite.

I listen to this one every holiday season. Sometimes twice. The steamy parts are more of a treat... but the plot and characters are at the heart of the story.

A Great Holiday Treat...

His for the Holidays provides four short stories that centers around the holiday season. Each story was fresh and new with romance and a bit of adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed each story, but my favorite was Mistletoe at Midnight by LB Gregg. This is a romantic holiday themed story with very strong characters and extremely witty dialogue narrated fantastically by Jack LeFleur . That said, the rest of the stories; Nine Lights over Edinburgh, I Heard Him Exclaim, and Icecapade were equally entertaining and enjoyable. Each story elicited an emotional response, whether it be sadness, fear, tears, or happiness! A phenomenal value and a must have for your library.
