Publisher's summary

"Twisty plots, fantastic characters, and pitch-perfect pacing. Fabulous!" (Allison Brennan, New York Times best-selling author)

Buried treasure...buried feelings...all about to surface....

Anthropologist Allison Pinckney is stunned when she inherits the key to a 17th-century pirate cipher that makes her the target of two brutal arms dealers. Now, to save those she loves, she must solve the cipher. With this perilous mission growing ever more dangerous, she reluctantly seeks help from ex-Green Beret Zack Tremaine, the one man she's been avoiding. Because if she gives into her long-buried feelings for him, it could cost them their lives.

Zack Tremaine is haunted by regrets. Years ago, he betrayed his men and lost the only woman he ever loved. Now that his men are caught in a fierce rivalry between two deadly enemies, his only hope is to team up with Allison. She holds the secret to a pirate treasure, and he must take the chance to save his men and redeem his honor. Even if she breaks his heart...again.

Talented writer - complicated story

This is a complex story with lots of characters and back stories - some of them make sense, but most of them don't. The book is well written with colorful language and finesse, However it is also extremely detailed - down to how the characters swallow and chew their food - that it takes a while to get to the core of the story. The narrators grew on me - and I applaud them both for portraying so many different voices - well done! I enjoyed the historical background and could envision the travels through Charleston and New Orleans. What did not make sense to me at all was why the whole group of former soldiers still followed a commander and lived in really difficult circumstances together in a gym. They all had families they could rely on - some of them even wives. If you want to escape in a different world where you have to concentrate to follow along, then this book is for you!

Bana "Not my cup of tea"

Wasn't what I thought it would be. Weird storyline, but had potential. Which wasn't fall filled. Really dragged, a lot. Some parts are good. Then the way the plot information flowed was stupid. A girl of seven telling key information from a story book, from school? After the adults (who are Over educated) didn't know, come on even I know goggled ???. Thru out the book you had to have this or that Item, it didn't seem to matter at the end. The seals What a group of beaten down men all living together. After being kicked out of the Military. They could of use some balls sooner. They did grow some at the end, a little to late, The narrator's where good. Loved the verity of voices. Peachwood is not my favorite. She did do a good job with this book .

A bit slow

Felt the story while interesting took too long to unfold. It was a bit taxing.

Suspenseful and gripping

I loved the third book in the trilogy. It was a page turner and I loved the characters. Sharon’s writing makes you feel like you are right there in the story.

CREEPY ? STUPID !

Perhaps if I'd had access to & listened to the first two books in this series I might have liked this mess.,(This is not endearing me to this package). As it was I spent 15 hrs & 30 min+ (the times I had to rewind because something didn't make sense) , listening to this waste of my time. Between the supposed witchcraft, voodoo, pirate & military references there were kidnappings ,murders, cults & sex. I guess I was supposed to love this book. I didn't. This book was a ball of confusion. And this is coming from a person who can do homework, listen to music ,watch tv & throw in some laundry & never miss a beat. The heroine feeling guilty over her dead, conniving, cheating husband being dead, conniving & cheating on her, just made me want to scream. She found out about the cheating from the mistress, who had a " brooch "(Ms. Peachwood please learn how to pronounce this word) that the cheater had given to his mistress after his wife didn't want it & the wife saw it on her...My point is a lot of time was wasted on this non issue. I finished this book because I have a thing about finishing what I start but this book was almost a deal breaker.
