Publisher's summary

Kona Five is Keith Rieger's amazing (but true) biography and recollection of the immense life challenges he faced (two tragic deaths, two prison terms, two divorces, and more)...and his determination to make the most of his talents and opportunities to achieve some remarkable life goals...including being the first and only person to complete five Iron Distance Triathlons in dive days on the Kona Ironman World Championship Course all self-supported...and to ultimately encourage and inspire others to take on their own life challenges and goals.

Critic reviews

“Christopher Reeve once said, “a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Well I have found a new hero. Keith outlines his life's journey so explicitly and straightforward that you simply ask the question: Wow, what happens next? Keith openly relays his past by saying: Here it is, full discloser. This is my pilgrimage through rebellion, uncertainty, doubt, compunction. Always moving forward and coming out on the other end still on a quest and an endless journey simply called life.” (Frank Sole, Coach/Owner of Sole Swim Solutions and S3 Training Systems)

“In Kona Five, Keith Rieger branches out to tell a more personal story behind his optimism and his drive to achieve. His open honesty about the challenging events in his growing years gives the reader empathy and insight to his goals. His story is relatable because he's human like us, and powerfully inspiring to those of us with big dreams.” (Lucy Smith, Canadian Champion runner, 2012 XTERRA Trail Run World Champion, LifeSport Coach, and author)

"Keith has hit this one out of the park! Knowing him personally, and seeing his positive energy first hand, one would never know he has persevered so much to accomplish all he has done! This book will inspire you to live beyond the norm and beyond your circumstances." (Dan Cadriel, 30+ year Triathlete, Kona Ironman)

Absolutely Breathtaking Inspirational!

Just finished listening to Keith’s amazing and inspirational audiobook story.

An absolutely wonderful insight of his personal life & athletic achievements.

In Kona Five, Keith reaches out to tell us the ups and downs of his own incredible personal life stories.

Loved his honesty in opening his heart out and his drive to inspire all of us that Anything Is Possible.

Thank you Keith, for sharing and inspire us to keep on dreaming!

My best spent audible credit!

Truly enjoyed hearing the candid and inspirational account of your journey. I am impressed with your ability to see the silver lining, among the many obstacles you had to overcome. Kudus for persevering and inspiring others to do the same. I look forward to a sequel!

Marketing Genius Goes Deep about Life and God

In terms of there being unknown-unknowns or the Great Unknown, I too believe in God. Like Keith, I too went to Liberty University, not something I talk too much about, but a fun fact about my life. I enjoyed listening to and thinking about His (Keith's) major life-moments, experiences, and challenges (emotionally, physically, spiritually, and otherwise).

A Life of Triumph

Keith's story is one of unimaginable lows and soaring highs. Written in a straight-forward manner with incredible humility, Keith used his faith and painful past to propel him into overcoming challenges that seem physically impossible. He said that he decided to do the best he could with what God gave him and leave the rest up to God. Doing that can be a struggle for me so it's inspiring to see what God did in Keith's life when he surrendered. I was really inspired when he made the most of being falsely imprisoned by talking to and helping the other inmates. I know that Keith's perseverance through incredible difficulty will serve as a reminder that I can still live in victory, even in the most difficult circumstances.

The Heart of Endurance

This book is a compelling tale about Keith Rieger fighting through the unpredictable life struggles that came his way. I appreciate his brutal honesty and his desire to never give up for his life dream of completing an Iron Man and then going on to complete the Kona Five and so much more. This story is truly inspiring to not give up, but run the race set before you with endurance.
