What was left to me

the acting was cartoony but not unpleasant, I was delightfully surprised with the writing, not the most complex prose but still enjoyable and that ending-

Ehh, it was okay

SPOILERS!!
So it started out so good. The descriptions of Auschwitz, I really thought that was going somewhere. I was disappointed when that kind of just abruptly ended and we skip forward, BAM there's a quite ridiculous-sounding demon in a basement, and then BAM, one of the main characters is dead, and it all just kind of went downhill from there. I was really grossed out by the descriptions, so that was a good thing. I'm just disappointed that there was so much potential for more story and it just didn't happen. And the demon was kind of cheesy.

Horror junkie APPROVED!!

Man I love Daniel Volpe. His writing is so graphic and detailed. I’m a horror junkie and this book was exactly my preferred genre of choice. It was vivid and suspenseful but the story was so deep. It makes you question, how far would you go for the ones you love? Highly recommend this read for any of my fellow horror lovers. This was my first Volpe book! Can’t wait to read more. 5 stars!!!

Historical value with dread and gore

The author really did his homework on this one. The sights and sounds of World War II Germany were very vivid and work to immerse the reader in the experience. I’ll warn you they are so well done, it’s gut wrenching.
The tension of the protagonists profession in Poland also makes for a tense situation as he is sought after for certain death if the Nazis find out. It all adds to the hopelessness and the cunningness of Joseph to find a way out of Auschwitz, the most notorious concentration camp in history.
The ending will surprise readers as it takes a strange turn and displays even more gruesome scenes. Some of the most bloody in the whole book. If you have the stomach to handle this book you will be greatly rewarded. The story and characters are one of a kind and well put together. I highly recommend this one.

A well-written tale of horror

As my first Volpe literary experience, I found the book very entertaining. His writing flows flawlessly. I was, however, expecting a bigger punch in the storyline when I reached the later part. But overall, this work deserves the good reviews it is getting. I was just expecting a darker execution of a dark tale.

disturbed months later

this book left me feeling small and empty. although, what else would I expect when diving into the horror genre of literature. originally I didn't care for the ending, but after stewing in my feelings about it for a couple months.. I'd say it delivered an open ended nightmare that fits very well with the theme. body horror, supernatural horror, and worst of all.. horrors that humanity itself delivers ripe for the picking. this one dug itself deep into my hyper imaginative mind.

An amazing more than horror, horror story

A story that will scare you, make you cry, feel sick, make you angry, terrify you and make you question what you would do if given the chance to change someone’s fate. The true definition of a horror story. Such an amazing and well-written book that has you hooked from the first page and will leave you speechless until the end !

Amazing story ok narration

Great fun to listen to story if you are into this kind of literature. But the dudes voice had me cracking up a few times and he yells every chapter number.

Wow

Wow. Just wow. I found this story to be very well imagined. The Holocaust was truly horrible and disgusting. this story was so bad ass. I loved it. the voice actor was pretty good, too.

Fun with your good pal Belphegor!

Solid dark story telling with some pretty graphic and unsettling descriptions. Couldn't help but cringe at times.
