Not what I expected, but still worth a listen

A reader's enjoyment of Mr. Cables may depend on their expectations for the novella. If you are going into this novella expecting a horror story, you are going to disappointed. This is, in a sense, a ghost story, but it is not necessarily a scary story. If you have read Stephen King's novella Secret Window, Secret Garden, Mr. Cables may seem a little familiar, which is a bit ironic.
Nevertheless, Ronald Malfi is an amazing storyteller, and I will always say if there is a modern successor to Stephen King, Mr. Malfi will be that author.

Simply a cool story
It’s not too complicated, not too easy - this is just simply a cool story. It’s not too long and is entertaining, two things that I appreciate when I want a story but do not want to think too hard about.

Just wow.
The premise of this book had me a little concerned, but the execution was flawless. Malfi has to be one of the best writers of our day. This novella left me with so many feelings.

Wasn’t ready for it to end
I loved it …. Great story for a short road trip enjoyed the every minute.
Bravo! Performance was really REALLY good and I’m now looking for other books with his VOICE

What an imagination Mr. Malfi has
He is, no doubt, the earned successor of Stephen King as The King of Horror. Love his books and always crave more.

The continued air of suspense stood out to me most.
I liked that each chapter piqued my curiosity and imagination. I disliked the lack of the characters' depth and the aftermath of the climax.

Boring!!!!
I was really hoping that this story would be much more frightening than it was! It was the exact opposite…one of the most boring novellas I’ve ever listened to. I’m bummed out that I wasted a credit on it.
