Publisher's summary

In a quiet community of million-dollar homes and shiny SUVs, the Nyce family projected the very image of success. Dr. Jonathan Nyce, an asthma sufferer, had achieved medical breakthroughs that made him rich - and offered hope to countless people. Michelle's beauty made her an object of desire. And adultery was her husband's worst nightmare.

Police found Michelle's Land Cruiser floating in a frigid creak near the family home. When forensic investigators examined Michelle's horribly battered body, they knew she had not died in the car. Or by accident.

Soon, the truth began to emerge. Of a brilliant man whose beautiful wife had a lover she could not stay away from. Of a family - including three innocent children - pushed to the breaking point. And of one brutal moment, when a man finally ended his torment by horrifically murdering the woman he loved....

Enjoyed

Good story. The trial details drag a bit, as they almost always do in true crime audiobooks. I recommend!

This guy is not worth reading about

There are plenty of true crime books about officious men who tried to dominate their wives, families, and the world around them who then, inevitably, snap when someone questions their authority. But usually, they learn something in the process and part of the satisfaction of reading a true crime book about them is seeing them get cut down to size. Not this guy. This guy is still out there blaming his wife for being murdered, still maintains his innocence despite a mountain of evidence against him, and has already gone on to commit other despicable crimes. I could not take it. I could not make it through. I'm not sure this piece of crap was worth writing a book about.

Brutal Murder

This is a moderately interesting account of a savage murder, an account that should have been compelling in the telling. Unfortunately, author John Glatt pads the narrative with so much repetition that the story actually becomes tedious in places. Add to that the fact that the publisher's summary lays out all the twists and turns of the case, so there is very little left for the reader to discover on his or her own. Fortunately, I have learned to avoid these summaries when selecting true crime books.

Shaun Grindell's narration is fine.

narrator's accent completely jarred me

I've never been so thrown off by a
narrator's accent as I was with this
book. it actually seemed to interfere with the story. it's an American crime story that occurs in the u. s., so why use an Australian to narrate?

Narrator

I could not finish this book asking myself why the narrator of this book had such a difficult accent. I wish that I would have listened to a sample. Can I get my money back?

Sad TRUE CRIME

This is sad, as are almost all TRUE CRIME stories--but I had to push myself at times to finish all of it. Maybe too detailed in places. Also I didn't think the narration helped, maybe rather gruff.

Pea-brained.

Can someone inform the author that Puerto Rico is an American territory? Some of the most victim-blaming, tacky writing I’ve ever heard; even for True Crime.

Just sort of ho-hum 🥱

While I love a true crime novel more than anyone, this was just a real sleepy read. No mystery, no interesting forensics, no intrigue. As Simon Crowell would say, t’was “utterly forgettable.”

SNORE.

Very tedious book, and I'm quite let down because it's such an interesting subject. Somebody like Ann Rule could have truly brought this story to life, but this honestly read like a quick tome thrown together by a second rate foreign tabloid reporter. BOO. I want my credit back, Audible!
