Publisher's summary

He said it would only hurt a little... On her 16th birthday, Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. On my 22nd, I pricked mine on the needle of a tattoo machine wielded by a beautifully complicated man who would go on to become my ruin.

Madden Ransom was a lot of things. Unfeeling. Opinionated. Rebellious. A tattoo artist with no tattoos, the man was an enigma and then some. And while Sleeping Beauty fell into a peaceful slumber as she awaited true love’s kiss, I fell into something else entirely - my heart in the hands of a man who’d never given nor received anything remotely like love.

I know now that when Madden told me it would only hurt a little... he didn’t mean the tattoo. It turns out you can’t un-love someone, even after you find out he’s the last person you have any business loving. And that is the most painful truth of all. Or it was... until his last confession.

Great Opposites Attract Story and Great Narration!

Winter Renshaw did it again! I love this opposites attract story. Madden and Brighton are both great characters. Madden is a tattoo artist, and a complex character, bad boy, and handsome. Brighton is so kind, hopeful, strong, and a beautiful woman. I love their story, their chemistry, and their happy ending. The storyline is well written, filled with, lies, misunderstandings, and unpredictable twists and turns. Madden's sister is also a great character. The narration is perfect! This is the second time I heard Victoria Mei and Wally Schrass together, and for the second time they did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voices! In fact, if you haven't listened to P.S. I Hate You, you should! I totally recommend both audiobooks. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.

Different but good

The story was good and it kept me going/listening until the end.

The main characters were polar opposites and maybe that’s why they worked.

The narration was good.

There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming.

The ending was a bit abrupt, and I wish there would have been more details on the villain’s downfall as I like every little detail on how the bad guys are made to pay for their bad deeds.

Brighton and Madden

Brighton's rebellion against her parents' strict hold on her life lands her in Madd Inkk under the hands of the shop owner, Madden Ransom. Through a coincidental opportunity, Brighton becomes the summer mentor to Madden's little sister Devanie. Soon, they realize just how unknowingly entangled their lives really are. The story had enough of a twist to keep it fresh and the right amount of romance to keep it sexy, with the kind if drama you would expect from the characters portrayed.
Listening to the audiobook, this is the first I've heard with these narrators (Victoria Mei and Wally Schrass) and I surprisingly enjoyed it. I will be on the lookout for more by them.

Not bad.

This is my first book with Winter Renshaw. I enjoyed it except for the ending. Despite the obvious love story there a bit of a mystery along fir the ride. The mystery of their pasts unfolded in bits and pieces throughout their growing relationship in a measured way. It kept my interest had me forming and reforming the eventually ending. It felt a bit wrong side of the tracks meshed with fated lovers. I did not see the villain so that was a big surprise. But the way he was discovered exposed and then dealt with was rather expedient and anticlimactic. The ending was rather rushed as a result so I went from reviving plenty of information at a brisk walk to a summary delivered at a flat out run. I would have liked a fuller more explanative wrap up to an otherwise great story. There was a teaser for another book at the end - great idea BTY - that I think I’ll look into.

I’ve never listened to the work of VM or WS but I did enjoy their work and will look into what else they have lent their voice to.
