Publisher's summary
When Lucy Bagshaw's life in Boston falls apart thanks to a scathing editorial written by her famous artist mother, she accepts her half-sister Juliet's invitation to stay with her in Hartley-by-the-Sea, a charming seaside village in Northern England.
Lucy is expecting quaint cottages and cream teas but instead finds that her sister is an aloof host; the weather is wet, windy, and cold; and her new boss, Alex Kincaid, is a disapproving widower who hired her only as a favor to Juliet.
Despite the invitation she offered, Juliet is startled by the way Lucy catapults into her orderly life. As Juliet faces her own struggles with both her distant mother and her desire for a child, her sister's irrepressible optimism begins to take hold. With the help of quirky villagers, these hesitant rainy-day sisters begin to forge a new understanding and find in each other the love of family that makes all the difference.

She’ll never forget...I’ll never forgive. People always notice my daughter, Isobel. How could they not? Incredibly beautiful...until she speaks. An unsettling little-girl voice, exactly like a child’s, but from the mouth of a full-grown woman. Izzie might look grown up, but inside she’s trapped. Caught in the day it happened...the day that broke her from within. Our family fell apart that day, and we never could pick up the pieces....

A heartwarming, uplifting village romance for fans of Holly Martin, Tilly Tennant and Cathy Bramley. Buying a thatched cottage in the country may not be the usual cure for a broken heart. But after Clara Maxwell finds out her boyfriend and best friend have been sneaking around behind her back, packing her bags and leaving everything in London behind feels like it's the only way forward. When Henry Garnett, her (rather handsome) new contractor, turns up with his little daughter Pansy and a van shaped like a cottage in tow, she isn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

Can’t Go Wrong w/ Rosalyn Landor!
I admit I chose this book because it was narrated by Rosalyn Landor. I admire her work so much that I expected she would make good choices in books - and I was right! This was an intriguing novel of 2 estranged sisters and their narcissistic mother, as well as 2 love story plots. The location was a large part of setting the tone of the novel. The author, Kate Hewitt, made me feel like I was there in the cold blistering winds slogging through muddy fields. I was very satisfied with both the story and the narration. Excellent job!

This is a good, pleasant story that occasionally gets stall in detail. I sometimes despised the central character for her weak decisions, but the other characters were interesting to follow. Great narrator!

well written and beautiful told.
this story kept my attention every second. powerful story of family that wasn't but became, sort of. Characters are real and with so much personality.
even makes me want to go to Cambria.

Fun love beach read/listen
A great surprise in selecting this book. A story of 2 half sisters with a dysfunctional mom. It’s a story of healing, renewing, finding oneself and family. Fanily that doesn’t need to be blood related

This one had to grow on me, but when it did...
Lucy was just a little too whiney and Juliet, just plain mean but I pressed on and fell in love with both sisters. I chose the book for two reasons: first, the cover... beautiful, second, the setting... it did NOT disappoint. I loved Peter! Not thrilled about the narrator's voice for Alex but he was so loveable, I got through it. Honestly, I loved this book I cried like a baby at the end.
