Publisher's summary

Sixteen-year-old Angela and her father are the last survivors on earth. She dreams of adventure and romance, but only finds it in books. In the confines of her garden paradise, she’s untouched by contaminants that caused the rest of the humanity to mutate into murderous beasts or die. But staying in the garden sure gets lonely. When a 17-year-old boy stumbles upon Angela’s home with news about a thriving community, his presence challenges everything she knew about the world. She dares to leave her garden for the first time to find a better home.

In the authoritarian society that she finds, the line between man and mutant is murkier than she expected. Secrets from Angela's past reemerge, and she learns life outside the garden isn't all it's cracked up to be. Her father is in danger, and the men tasked with protecting the settlement are extremely fond of murder.

With their lives on the line, can Angela create one last happy ending in a hopeless world?

Fans of dystopian societies, post-apocalyptic futures, diverse characters, fantasy, and coming-of-age adventures with heart will fall in love with this post-apocalyptic fairy tale.

Good story with a timely message.

Saving Eden is an interesting story experience. My perception of who was the bad guys, was ever changing as Angela and I learned more about the world outside her tiny garden home.

First her father was the bad one for isolating her and not teaching her how to even read. Then the bad one was president Cain and his shoot anyone who disagrees with me policies. Then the bad ones were the resistance with their "at any cost" attitude.

Angela is a very pollyanna like character who sincerely wants to help people and has no idea what it's like to interact with a large society. As she meets many people, and constantly she is trying to figure out who to trust. She matures and learns, but somehow manages not to end up bitter and hard hearted.

And thus we arrive at the true takeaway, division, divides. If we are all so stubborn that we can not see another's point of view, or empathize with another's pain, then the world is lost. And we are all heading straight for a dystopia anyway.

I should also mention that the narrator Corrieanne Stein did a fantastic job reading. she does vary the voices enough that each character has personality, and she is also clear and engaging while reading descriptions.

Fun and interesting read

Interesting, fun and short read. If you’re looking for a little post apocalyptic ya story with a hint of romance this is the book for you.

Great Debut

This was a quick fun listen. Its definitely got apocalyptic Rapunzel vibes, which I loved. Our MC Angela has spent her life very sheltered with her father thinking there are no other people alive on the earth. They live a very simple life. So she makes some naive decisions. It's told in third person but follows Angela's POV so a lot of things need to be explained, like technology and cars. There's a little romance. Some action scenes.
The narrator was not my favorite. Not bad though. I just prefer when there's more distinction between characters. I think some people will really enjoy her, just not my style. Overall enjoyed and am looking for to the next book.
Couple favorite lines:
"I think sometimes you have to create a happy ending for yourself"
"The real world teeth and its sickness reaches far beyond the aftermath of the war"

Good quick read!

This was overall a good quick read. I wish it would've been longer with more detail but the storyline was interesting.

Not what expected

Narration was a bit off because of the voice of narrator not quite good for the action, but still gave it 3 star. Story a bit childish in an apocalyptic world.

Wonderful Saturday Read

If you're looking for something to listen to that has a good story line, not too long and not too heavy. . . THIS is the perfect book. I needed a break from reality and this book was a great escape. It was really good to listen to a story that wasn't all gloom and doom, that actually had an "of color" female main character who, in a nutshell, saved the day. I'd love a sequel to this book!

Great, underlying Christian, but a few 😬 words...

I loved it and it was great. I loved that it had a christian kind of under theme and also the thought of a world like ours but different. The reason I gave it 4 stars overall is because for one, I feel like i want to hear more of their story, and for two, it did have a few questionable words that I didn't appreciate hearing that could have been switched out for other words. but it was a pretty good listen overall.

Wish it was longer

This was a great listen and was a lot of fun. I wish it was longer, because I feel like there’s so much more of the story I’d like to hear, but the plot is great and I enjoyed the characters.

Saving eden.

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Angela lives alone with her father without ever seeing anyone else. All Angela has is the stories her father tells her about what the world was like before most of the world was destroyed. Their home has a garden filled with fresh produce and everything Angela could ever want except for friends. One night Angela sees something strange and she keeps looking until she finds a backpack that was left behind. Angela is determined to find out what lies beyond her home, but what she finds may not be exactly what she was looking for.

This was an incredible post-apocalyptic story that takes Angela from her secure home to the outside world filled with wonders and despair. The outside world may not be what Angela expects, but the friendships and conflicts she finds teach Angela an old lesson. Things are not always greener on the other side of the fence. The journey leads Angela to learning about herself and the world around her.

This was an incredible audio-book and I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book in The Eden Saga series.
