Publisher's summary

Are you ready for redemption?

My name is Soldier, but I was never meant to be a hero.

From the moment I was born, I was looked at as a beacon of hope, a guiding light—a savior. That type of pressure can drive a man to desperation, to do things he shouldn't, and in my case, that's exactly what happened.

All I ever wanted to be was a good person, someone my grandparents could be proud of, but for a long time, I couldn't find the strength to be proud of myself.

I paid the price. I did my time.

Yet... somehow, I got lucky.

I was given a second chance to do better and to be the man I always believed I could be. After finding the love I never knew I deserved, I'm starting to wonder if there's still room for me to be a hero after all...

From the author of Warrior Blue comes an emotional, gritty story about redemption, love, and an antihero desperate to achieve his lifelong dream—to be a good man.

Contains a bonus epilogue.

4.5⭐️

This was so good. I love a book that takes every emotion out of me and this just did that. The audio was so good.

Heartbreakingly beautiful story of love and redemption

I have been waiting for this audiobook and it was so worth it!

This is the story of a boy born into a difficult life and the lengths he goes to take care of the ones he loves, when a bad choice leads to devastation as a young man. I lost count of how many times I cried and at one point I was ready to square up to the author 😂

While it’s a long book, it never drags and the male narrator was new to me but both did an excellent job.

So, quit reading my review and get this book!!

A pure joy!

This would make a wonderful movie. The character development, story pace and dialog was exceptional! It really put me there. The make narrator was perfect. ( the female needs to check her monitor; breath sounds were very distracting).
You Weill experience all feels withe story. Great listen.

I am not sure

While I was really loving the book…. So sad, gritty and Solder’s story grips you and won’t let go (LOVED that it was his PoV) I just couldn’t get it when he was dating and I don’t know… I felt there were some holes there especially after the big stint in jail… and the way Rain was protecting that SoB didn’t make sense and her explanation was simply so dumb! I just was going through the motions and almost DNF’d the book…
