In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

Story
One afternoon - after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise - I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books.

Story
The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Easy to Follow
This book is easy to follow, and different from other books on Procrastination. I am writing my dissertation on the topic (and I also suffer from it), and though Dr. Fiore is not often cited by other researchers, I find the information to be practical, and helpful. Being a chronic procrastinator, I am looking for anything to help. I especially like the "Unschedule". I never realized how little time I actually have to do things. I always thought - I can do that tomorrow - when in reality I need to do a little each day. Thank you Dr. Fiore!

Ok content, painful to listen to
Reasonable content, terrible narration. The issue has come up before, and here it is again: just because you wrote a book, doesn't mean you have the skill to read it! The author's narration is flat and monotone with frequent hesitations as he begins another segment of text. It's almost like listening to your 6 year old stammer over his homework reading because he doesn't know how to pronounce the next word. This book is a little like that in many places. I bought the book because years ago I read the hard copy version and remembered that it had some good content. However, not so the audio version.
The content could be useful, but because he delivers like a robot with the caps lock on, I found I couldn't focus enough on the message to make it useful. Potential authors note; this issue of bad narration comes up frequently in audible reviews, and has certainly steered me away from a book more than once.

Best book ever !!!
Motivational determination, psychology changing, hitting at the core of the problem: that's what you get listening at the book and more, this answers many questions about some usual behaviors and reactions of people, helps you and others around you not just get rid of procrastination, but also be a successful person, a producer - one that you are meant to be in life (and potentially find the equilibrium and purpose in life) :-) !!!
The only thing needed from you is to accept the book's message openly and without resistance.
Welcome to your new, reformed, wonderful and free life, after you've listened and applied what is written (told) in this book.

Absolutely unbearable to listen to
Any additional comments?
If you are interested in reading this book, I would get a paperback edition. The narration was unbearable. Do not waste your money on this audio book.

Didn't Realize I Was Procrastinating Until Now!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would, with the disclaimer that listening to this audiobook can be a chore. However, there is much to unpack and realize about yourself in the midst of it. The book is practical and counseling in nature.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the recommendations Fiore offers in his book, based on his research and client work. His work really deconstructed my life and revealed to me simplicity and possibilities I hadn't ever considered or thought of.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Neil Fiore?
Anyone but Neil Fiore. He sounded sooo flat and non-emotive.
Do you think The Now Habit needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Perhaps a more condensed version that focused on the specific strategies.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book to any and all students and perfectionists.

Brilliant!
If you could sum up The Now Habit in three words, what would they be?
refreshing perspective, effective
What did you like best about this story?
Hard to admit that I am one of them - one of procrastinators, nevertheless I am. This book teaches me about the root of my procrastinating behaviours like no other ever before.
What it does not - it does not make me feel bad about it; does not push me into even greater procrastination about it, but gives me realistic, achievable short and long term techniques to nip it in a bud!
Thank you.

life altering
This author's methods helped me take control of a busy consultant practice while caring for a child who has a life changing chronic illness. I feel excited for each day, which I haven't felt for years.

good book. pretty deep analysis
in depth analysis of what powers us to procrastinate. take your time and hear him out as the ideas may seem at odds with what you understand about yourself. Like others, I found his narration a bit slow. But given the material, it could be a natural consequence. would recommend this book.

Unique insights well worth learning
In this book Dr. Fiore provides a unique insight on causes of procrastination and some surprising strategies to deal with it. Having read some 3 or 4 books over 10 years in an effort to deal with the habit (I just never quite get around to it!), I have found Dr. Fiore's ideas among the most effective yet.
Some have commented on his narration style, and yes it is a little slow. I found turning up the narration speed on my iPod the only remedy needed.
For me this book, plus 'Eat That Frog', provide everything one needs to know to change behaviour and stop procrastinating. Now it is up to me!
