Publisher's summary

From Linda Howard comes a thrilling and sensual new novel of romance, suspense, intrigue...and memories that can kill.

Lizette Henry wakes up one morning and makes a terrifying discovery: She doesn't recognize the face she sees in the mirror. She remembers what she looks like, but her reflection is someone else's. To add to the shock, two years seem to have disappeared from her life. Someone has gone to great and inexplicable lengths to keep those missing years hidden forever. But the past always finds a way to return.

Strange memories soon begin to surface, and, along with them, some unusual skills and talents that Lizette hasn't a clue about acquiring. Sensing that she's being monitored, Lizette suddenly knows how to search for bugs in her house and tracking devices in her car. What's more, she can elude surveillance - like a trained agent.

Enter a mysterious and seductive stranger named Xavier, who claims he wants to help - but who triggers disturbing images of an unspeakable crime of which Lizette may or may not be the perpetrator. With memories returning, she suddenly becomes a target of anonymous assassins. On the run with nowhere to hide, Lizette has no choice but to rely on Xavier, a strong and magnetic man she doesn't trust, with a powerful attraction she cannot resist. As murky waters become clear, Lizette confronts a conspiracy that is treacherous and far-reaching and a truth that, once revealed, may silence her and Xavier once and for all.

NOT FOR ME

The whole book is narrated just listening to the thoughts of the two main characters. Not. Sure how it rated 5 stars that's one reviewer I won't be purchasing a book because of her ratings was totally disappointed over 3 hrs. The first half Of just listening to the thoughts of lizette and xaniver trying to make it to the end .not worth the credit to me. Gave 3 starts for effort

Good book, but...

I missed the explanation for somethings like: what happened to her boss and best friend? They were part of it all too? And so on...
But, in general, it was a fun book to read.
I liked.

Intriguing!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Makes you wonder if things like this really happen? Deja vu?

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I listen while Ii work so I was always waiting to get back to them. It was one of those books where you worry about the characters and miss them when it's over.

Did Carrington MacDuffie do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

It was good. I've heard better but still enjoyable.

Only So So

What did you love best about Shadow Woman?

I waited what seemed like forever. It was good but at the same time not so good.

Did Carrington MacDuffie do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

This was the second book I listened to that she has done. The first did not even rate one star, she did a much better job on this one. However, it stilled lacked something.

Any additional comments?

The characters were solid at the beginning but then flat lined at the end.

Well read, mostly solid, but the ending lost steam

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I tend to associate Linda Howard with suspenseful romance. This book had great suspense, but the romance didn't hold together.

Would you recommend Shadow Woman to your friends? Why or why not?

It's a good book, but I wouldn't recommend it to my romance readers.

What does Carrington MacDuffie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a really great job portraying a tough, confused character who finds herself in an urgent situation. Her voice is exactly right for this story.

Good listen

The story of Lizzie and Xavier was a good one. The reader was excellent, and the pace was always quick. There were no slow spots, and yet it wasn't frenetic as some action stories are.
