Publisher's summary

Nestor Castle—a bestselling, award-winning extreme horror author—has the perfect life, having transitioned from indie darling to mainstream success. Although he dislikes the limelight, he finds comfort cooped up in his lake house with his loving wife and healthy daughter. However, after announcing his next book—a departure from the horror genre—he finds himself targeted by a disgruntled fan who calls himself ‘Butterfly.’

Butterfly’s messages grow more aggressive, more disturbing, and more threatening each time. When strange occurrences start happening around him, Nestor begins to fear that he is being stalked and he starts to suspect everyone—his agent, his neighbors, the deliveryman, his wife.

Who is Butterfly?

Jon Athan, the author of The Groomer and Lovesick, brings you a psychological horror novel with an extreme edge. There is a fine line between fan and fanatic. Will you cross it?

Top-tier narration 💯

Hands-down the best audiobook narration I’ve heard!! Jon Athan comes through with well-written scenes of body horror that left my mouth agape. This is a weird, uncomfortable and gory book 🖤

INSANE

An extreme horror reader becomes obsessed with an author…what could go wrong? Athan explored this idea in this novel, and what comes of it is INSANE (I mean that as compliment to Athan). As usual, Jon takes real world scenarios and puts the most extreme, horrific spin on them, and it scares the crap out of me (which is extremely hard to do). The creativity he shows although each of his novels, this one being no exception, is impressive, and gruesome.
I listened to this one, and the narrator did a fantastic job really conveying the horrors that Jon laid out for us.
If you like extreme horror, Jon Athan should be your go to…and this book is a great place to start.

Wow!

I am so impressed by this book and the narrator! The story was so unique and gory, I LOVED IT. Jon Athan did an amazing job with this book. I was on my toes the entire time, not knowing whether or not our main character was an unreliable character or if he was really experiencing the things happening around him. But the narrator?! AMAZING.

**SMALL SPOILER**
In the chapter where Nestor's wife encounters Harrison was phenomenal, Beau Thomas did a fantastic job voicing Harrison mimicking Nestor's voice. I was so intrigued, impressed and terrified. I can hear both Harrison and Nestor's voice merged together and it was trippy. The book was great but this narrator took me on a whole journey. I need to listen to more audible books narrated by Beau, I hope he narrates more books in the future.

Just gets better and better

Jon Athan's Shared by Two was really good. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was getting angry at some of the characters' actions. And I find that to be a quality. like when you're watching a movie and yelling at the characters, HES BEHIND YOU!!! The moment from Scream when Jamie Kennedy is doing exactly that. That's the kind of fun I had with this story.
The fact that this story was so meta, had me feeling proud of myself for drawing the connections between the reference material and the story. Lots of Easter eggs.
The ending was crazy. Loved it. Can't wait for more.
