Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author K Webster comes a steamy and emotional MM romance!

When you’re the sheriff of Brigs Ferry Bay, certain things are expected of you. Marry a local girl, settle down, have a few kids. You know, the small-town dream. But I’ve got a secret I’m terrified will get out.

I’m gay. Not bi. Not curious. Not confused. Just gay.

So, settling for that dream won’t be happening.

If this secret gets out, the people I serve and protect, especially my father, won’t be accepting.

I’m not brave like my high school sweetheart, Kian. The day he came out was the day I had to let him go, and with it, love.

I’ve done a great job of pretending that I’m perfectly fine being single. Until a villainous and annoyingly charming new B&B owner, Dante Kincaid, rolls into town. The spark between us is electric and undeniable. He wants to give me a taste of what he has to offer, and better yet, he vows to be discreet. I’m too selfish to refuse.

But my secret is still a heavy burden, leaving me handcuffed to expectations and unable to fully grasp what I want - him. History has a way of repeating itself, but this time around, with Dante, it’ll hurt a lot worse.

I have to decide if I’m going to let love slip away again, or if I’m going to finally fight for it.

Brigs Ferry Bay is a steamy MM romance series. While each book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, in order to get the full experience, they're best heard in order. Enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, hurt comfort, age-gap romance, and so much more. Fall in love with the charming small-town gay romances of Brigs Ferry Bay.

Pleasantly surprised.

I was worried because of the narrator reviews but I didn’t hate it. Michael is better but I enjoyed it.

great story

Really good story, the only problem I had with the narrator is that sometimes both characters sounded the same. But awesome!

I can't believe how much I loved this!!!

Almost everything I enjoy in a m/m romance was represented here: 2 alpha males on equal footing ground but when the moment calls for it each can bend and/or depend on the other - and my god the heat between them was off the chart 🔥🔥🔥. There was an intriguing mystery/suspense that wasn't easily solved right off the bat - there were red herrings at every turn. The angst was reasonable and definitely didn't feel contrived - with the town's attitude towards the LGBTQ+ community and the horrible animosity displayed by Jax's parents it's understandable why he had a fear of coming out...but thank goodness Dante and his love was there to catch Jax when he finally did make that step. Lastly, the performance of Thomas Hart was amazing...especially when he did his growling Dante voice! 🔥. He is new to me so I will definitely keep an eye out for his other works. I've enjoyed other K. Webster works and this title by far is one of my favorites.

5 starz - I would listen again

Loved The Book 🔥

THE BOOK:

In one word, SPECTACULAR!

This read was enthralling and unpredictable.
I loved the plot and character building.
It wasn't the typical insta love read.
It had the perfect building blocks to start this completely captivating series.
I thoroughly enjoyed the suspenseful aspect to the story. It wasn't just about the bedroom, though those scenes were 🔥... So steamy and delicious.
I highly recommend this book!

THE NARRATION:

The Narrator, however, was not my cup of tea.
It was too monotone for my liking and I couldn't feel the emotions as strongly as when you read it.
It's truly unfortunate, as I loved the book.
But that's just my preference.

Entertaining story but awful narrator

I am seriously the last person that critiques or nitpicks at performers but I think it's a disservice to potential readers/authors/narrators if feedback is not provided. The story was actually entertaining - I really enjoyed it - however - I wanted to pull my hair out during certain parts, particularly the scenes that were intended to be steamy. I mean the words are hot, and if read by Teddy Hamilton or JF Harding it could be a "panty-dropper" though unfortunately I wanted to put on a chastity belt, lock it and throw away the key. I think the most important take away for any narrator(s) is just because you get to an intimate scene does not mean you need to raise your volume to the point you're yelling the words. I was either cringing during half the scenes or lowering the volume.

Decent story, but the narrator…

This story was actually pretty good. Well developed main characters, with a decent enough selection of supporting characters not to be boring but not so many as to be confusing. There were a few little things, like the overuse of certain adjectives and some over the top dramatic scenes that were a little annoying but overall a decent read and worth the credit. Unfortunately, all it took was one mediocre narrator to downgrade a five star listen to a four-star listen.

In technical terms, Thomas Hart did a perfectly good job. He didn’t mispronounce any words, leave weird pauses, breathe or swallow it inappropriate times or any of the other narration destroying faux pas you sometimes hear in audiobooks. What ruined this reading in my opinion though was precisely that it was a READING. It didn’t seem to me like he made much of an effort at all to dramatize the story. To act, rather than just read. Now, I’ll be the first to criticize narrators who over-act, make the things characters say and do so over the top and ridiculous that you can’t suspend disbelief and just listen. But there’s a difference between talking and storytelling. Hart’s performance, while technically correct, lack any conviction or feeling. He was conveying words, not telling a story, and the result was that I found my attention continually wandering, and I found scenes that might otherwise have resonated with me unmoving.

I would definitely continue this series, but if the other books are narrated by the same person, I’d think twice before dropping a credit.

Surprising 4.5 star book!!

As much as i didn't care for Dante early on in this story, I ended up liking him afterall. I have an aversion to calling a grown ass man "boy", but I eventually got over it in this story. The story slowly pulled me in until I couldn't help but love it. Probably my favorite part was seeing two "alpha" type men let down their guard and be vulnerable and loving with each other.

I originally read this one, and since I liked it so much, I had to scoop it up once it was released as an audiobook. Loved it all over again!

Narrator ruins the story

I can’t really say i enjoyed this book because the narration was so bad I couldn’t focus on the story. How does someone that reads so bad with no emotion get a job as a professional narrator? I stopped listening a quarter of the way through the book. DNF!!!!!! It bums me out. This Thomas Hart needs to find another job!!!!!
