Publisher's summary

Maybe my time in Rainy Dale has run its course.

Things are spiraling out of control for our indelicate, but occasionally loveable, Doctor Thornton. His romantic life is already in turmoil, but when someone sets fire to his medical practice, his finances are also in jeopardy.

Sheriff Royce Callum offers Maxwell a safe place to stay as he searches for the arsonist. Maxwell can easily rub people the wrong way, which makes it challenging for Royce to figure out if the attack on Maxwell’s business was personal or random.

When other fires begin to pop up in Rainy Dale, it becomes obvious there’s a serial arsonist spreading terror through town. Things go from bad to worse when one of the fires turns deadly.

Ongoing Story

This is a must have if you've been following Royce and Max. I really felt for Max in this book. He's gone through so much in Rainydale, sometimes even I think he should go back to LA. He's been working really hard to change. Sometimes I feel that isn't appreciated enough. People need to love him for who he is. Gerdie is really there for him in this one which I love. Royce frustrated me at times, but it was good to see them moving forward. This is not a stand alone, you need to read the others first, and need this to keep going with the series. Its a wonderful series and I highly recommend

I appreciate the length.

What I really appreciate was that the story was longer. I often find more and more m/m cozy mysteries are getting shorter and shorter. This actually went at a good pace and I was thoroughly invested. There was a good balance of romance and mystery in the book. Sometimes the mystery gets overshadowed by the romance and most often times I find myself skipping those parts.

great listen

I absolutely love this series. This book had me choked up. I have already read the print version so i know what was going to happen, but apparently the narrator did such a fantastic job retelling the story to me that i was a ball of hot ugly tears. Thos one tore me up. Got all up in my heart and my feelings. Absolutely fantastic addition to the series. Do your self a favor get some wine and tissues before you start the book. Then carve out a big chunk of time because there is no putting this audio down.

Good story. Good narration.

Another interesting mystery from SC Wynne. A whodunnit with a dash of romance is one of my favorite type of stories and Wynne always seems to find an interesting way to keep my attention. The tension between Royce and Maxwell and twists in the mystery made it hard to put the story down.

I am starting to get a bit annoyed by the intolerance directed toward Maxwell. He may have an abrupt and direct manner, but the people criticizing him have their own quirks. Ugh.
Matt Haynes' performance was entertaining, and his voice is well suited to the mystery genre.

Yay Maxwell!

I can't say enough good things about this series, I absolutely love that they are all slowly coming to audio. The performance adds so much to the characters and mood.
I am now eagerly waiting for the next one to come to audio

Another amazing addition!

I love be back in Rainydale! I just love Maxwell and Royce! I had so many feeling with this one for Max. He keeps on having things happen to him one after another. This had so many feeling and then of course the mystery. Matt Haynes does such an amazing job with all the characters and bring this story to life. I can't wait for the next story to be narrative.
