Honorable Mention for Best LGBT Cover in the 2011 Rainbow Awards.

Being a police detective is hard. Add the complication of being a werewolf subject to human prejudice, and you might say Ray Branigan has his work cut out for him. He's hot on the trail of a killer when he realizes he needs help.

Enter Cal Parker, the beautiful half fairy Ray's secretly been in love with for years - secretly because while werewolves mate for life, fairies...don't. Ray needs Cal's expertise, but it isn't easy to concentrate with his mate walking around half naked, trying to publicly seduce him. By the time Ray identifies the killer - and sorts out a few prejudices of his own - it may be too late for Cal.

Good book with bad narration

Would you consider the audio edition of Some Kind of Magic to be better than the print version?

Convenience, I use audiobooks because I don't have time to sit and read but I can listen when I am doing otherthings. The performance was so bad I almost gave up. However, the story was good enough I stuck with it.

What other book might you compare Some Kind of Magic to and why?

This author has the same feel as Kim Dare and Megan Derr. Lots of depth to the characters in a short amount of time, enough humor to keep it from being depressing and lots of love.

What didn’t you like about Ron Herczig’s performance?

Absolutely nothing. This is my second time buying this book. The first time I only got an hour into it before I returned the audiobook and just read the book. This time I want to go through the series again but I don't have time to read them all. I only stuck with it for the story itself.

If you could rename Some Kind of Magic , what would you call it?

Werewolf - the oblivious one

Any additional comments?

If you have the time to read the book please do. The story is really good but this narrator sucks. I wish the author or publisher could get someone else to read it, my pic would be Mark Westfield (think "Hell & High Water by Charlie Cochet) that would have been amazing.

story was good despite the narrator

only reason I got through the whole thing was because I already listened to book 4.

pretty boring

I actually didn't really have any problems with the narrator like everyone else. I just thought the story was told in a really boring and irritating way. It felt like a pointless adventure.

Narrator hurt it

This one is a hard enough book to keep up with reading it, the narrator changing voices throughout made it impossible to keep up with listening to it

Narrator is not the best

I think the story was okay however the narrator made this nearly impossible to get through. I would be wise to trad this one and skip the audio.

Good listen

It was a good listen, but just average. There were definitely times I got lost in the story, but other times I just got lost.

Love stories are cool!

I read this book quite a long time ago and liked it. Having just listened to the audiobook now, I fell in love with the characters and the story even more. I lIked the narrator’s subtle use of his voice to change characters and much of their personalities. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18!

Terrible narration

There is no other word but drones for the narrators voice. Might have actually enjoyed the story but for that.

Good but Confused

The overall story is good. My problem came from the scenes switching between present / past. The narration was great. Maybe my confusion stemmed from the story being spoken instead of me reading it myself.

Convoluted and Repetitive Narrative depressing

The characters are interesting but not fully defined, the story line flits forward and back . The narration is slow with no variation and not only makes it hard to identify who is talking but leaves all the characters morose and annoying.
