Publisher's summary

In the year before The Phantom Menace, Yoda, Mace Windu, and the entire Jedi Council confront a galaxy on the brink of change.

The Jedi have always traveled the stars, defending peace and justice across the galaxy. But the galaxy is changing, and the Jedi Order along with it. More and more, the Order finds itself focused on the future of the Republic, secluded on Coruscant, where the twelve members of the Jedi Council weigh crises on a galactic scale.

As yet another Jedi Outpost left over from the Republic’s golden age is set to be decommissioned on the planet Kwenn, Qui-Gon Jinn challenges the Council about the Order’s increasing isolation. Mace Windu suggests a bold response: All twelve Jedi Masters will embark on a goodwill mission to help the planet and to remind the people of the galaxy that the Jedi remain as stalwart and present as they have been across the ages.

But the arrival of the Jedi leadership is not seen by all as a cause for celebration. In the increasing absence of the Jedi, warring pirate factions have infested the sector. To maintain their dominance, the pirates unite, intent on assassinating the Council members. And they are willing to destroy countless innocent lives to secure their power.

Cut off from Coruscant, the Jedi Masters must reckon with an unwelcome truth: While no one thinks more about the future than the Jedi Council, nobody needs their help more than those living in the present.

This audiobook includes a downloadable PDF of a map of Kwenn

JEDI COUNCIL ROAD TRIP!!

This was a very good story, IMO. It's the only story about the entire Jedi Council doing something together. I think it's also the only story that shows each of the Council members' personalities in full detail......and shows they have a sense of humor!
If you're a long long time SW fan, this shouldn't dissapoint.......

Marc Thompson is GOATed with the sauce

There is no better narrator. And John Jackson Miller’s return to Star Wars is triumphant. A masterfully interwoven story of sixteen distinct main characters. Never read anything like it.

Fulfilling childhood dreams and talented voice acting!

A dazzling tale of mischief, intrigue, and adventure. Fulfilling for long time Star Wars fans as it features the full Jedi Council from Episode I as characters. It was very awesome to see some unexplored Jedi being fleshed out. There is dramatic irony, suspence, comedy, and action. The story can get slow at times and the book may suffer from having too many characters but it is classic Star Wars prequel trilogy writing. Many of the scenes with Qui-gon and Obi-wan remind me of the YA Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice junior novel series. Marc Thompsson yet again demonstrates his talents for voices with a plethora of variations, both male and female, making the audiobook more immersive. I, however, did not like his Mace Windu impression but, then again, who could compete with the matchless talents of Samuel L. Jackson! Can I get a "Say what again!"?

Great production like all the SW audiobooks

Fun story with tons of fun prequel era characters. Plot was a bit predictable but a few twists and turns make it worth a read or listen.

Ties a lot of threads together

The book was very well written. It gives lite histories on specific supporting characters that you see throughout the trilogy and Star Wars history. There are nuanced subtitles and provocative future options that linger after the book is completed. Instead of focusing on one central character to the exclusion of others, it gives a broad and fulfilling sweep of many supporting roles along with the primary antagonist and protagonist. Very well written and thoroughly enjoyable.

Brilliant

A brilliant tale of small actions making a big difference. It’s the people that matter. Lots of nuance in this story too
