Publisher's summary

Former Texas Rangers Benton McCaleb, Will Elliot, and Brazos Gifford ride with Charles Goodnight as he rounds up thousands of ornery, unbranded cattle for the long drive to Colorado. From the Trinity River brakes to Denver, they’ll battle endless miles of flooded rivers, parched desert, and whiskey-crazed Comanches. And come face-to-face with Judge Roy Bean and legendary gunslingers like Clay Allison. For McCaleb and his hard-riding crew, the drive is a fierce struggle against the perils of an untamed land. A fight to the finish where the brave reach glory - or die hard.

disappointed in the quality of this story

I am horribly disappointed in the quality of this condensed version of this great story.
whenever edited it down for this version HORRIBLY BUTCHERED the whole story. it skips thru from scene to scene and leaves more questions than answers as to where the characters are going.......
dont get me wrong I LOVE Ralph Compton western's but whomever edited this one for this format screwed the pooch.

Missing text

Part of the story was left out between chapters 12 and 13.
Very disappointing. Anyone know how Rebecca got married?

This is a poor abridged version

What a poor shame. The treatment of this story is frustrating and angering. Foolish!! The reading is fine but its infuriating to be cut in and out of storylines. I onow the book. Ive read it multiple times and what ever ignorant fool decided how to cut this book up should be strung up! Just straight shameful

Horrible

I have read the book. Major parts of the story left out. Characters appear and disappear from the story like ghost. Major story lines left out. Even after reading this book I struggled to keep up with the audio version. Female characters voice was done by a man...

Not The Whole Story

Cannot recommend this audio book. As I listened, it became obvious that much of the written book has been left out as not important to the main storyline.
Wish I hadn't wasted my money but I may check out the written book for the complete story.

Butchered a classic

One of my favorite books butchered and condensed into this short recording. Scott Sowers did a decent job narrating it but they took too much out to follow the story.
