Publisher's summary

Some skills you never lose. Killing is one of them.

Matthew Riker keeps to himself, doesn't cause trouble, and never talks about his past. But after a chance encounter with a woman and a small child on the run, Riker will have to make a choice: use his hard-won skills to protect two innocent victims, or stay in the safety of his quiet life.

What follows is an adrenaline-soaked thrill ride that will take Riker on a cross-country chase, through the seedy underbelly of a New York criminal empire, and into the darkest places of the human heart.

Fans of John Wick, Jack Reacher, and Jason Bourne...get ready to meet Matthew Riker.

Includes a bonus novella from the Matthew Riker series, No Loose Ends.

weak story development

there were excellent to many conveniences made available for the hero. everything he needed happened to be there. people he needed to track down were always close.
not believable.

Lots of action! A very good listen!

This one starts with a beekeeper named Mathew Riker. He's delivering honey to the fair outside his home in North Carolina. As he is delivering the honey to the man who will sell it a woman hugging a child runs by.

Mathew knows something is wrong with this picture but decides he will keep his nose out of it if he can. He watches the woman trot by and disappear. He also sees four men who appear to be following her.

Now Riker is very interested and is even more interested when he hears a scream.

So begins one damned fine listen.

This one has Riker, a Ricker with one interesting past, Helen the woman who has Li the small girl, a Riker who takes out the four men who have already beaten Helen, He gets her out of the mess she is in and she offers him money to get the to NY City, a Helen who is far more than she appears to be, a Li who only speak Mandarin and a Riker who speaks it as well, a Li who is looking for a hero, and a Riker who know he will do what it takes to get Li back with her family, Dobbs a lawyer Helen runs too.
Exciting and kept moving, no dead spots or slow down in reading what more do you want or need!

Jay Snyder was outstanding with the delivery of the story

Corny and predictable

Story is fun but corny and predictable. Several times got me laughing or shaking head at poorly written scenes.

I thought it was turning into another " guy's too

I thought it was turning into another " guy's too honorable to kill even a bad guy "
well written. I enjoyed it.

Awesome

This is a Character you can really get behind. Not like the predictable Jack Reacher, but one of truly good morals.

Didn't Do His Homework!

The author referred several times in the story as the 4 man Special Forces team as a squadron. In the army, a squadron is a cavalry (horses) unit that has at least two troops which are company size units. He also incorrectly described a platoon. The tactics he used to clearing rooms was confusing and no one wastes ammunition on bodies bleeding out when they have limited ammunition and two dozen bad guys left. Found myself fast forwarding through the fight scenes...

Wild Ride!

Captivates from the beginning pages.
More twists and turns to keep you on the alert. May be a little too violent at times. Very fast paced. Good read leaving you ready for the book.
