Publisher's summary

Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent children. They are charming, and resourceful, and have pleasant facial features. Unfortunately, they are exceptionally unlucky.

In the first two books alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, a lumpy bed, a deadly serpent, a large brass reading lamp, a long knife, and a terrible odor.

In the tradition of great storytellers, from Dickens to Dahl, comes an exquisitely dark comedy that is both literary and irreverent, hilarious and deftly crafted. Never before has a tale of three likeable and unfortunate children been quite so enchanting, or quite so uproariously unhappy.

Wicked Fun

Loved book 2 in this series. I love how the story starts so happily and quickly turns dark. The children can tell Count Olaf is up to his old tricks, but the other characters have blinders on. Loved how Sunny's character develops and hearing her say real words. Such a fun relationship between Sunny and the Incredibly Deadly Viper. Looking forward to book 3!

Great story made better by Tim Curry's narration!

I've always loved Tim Curry as a performer. This was a real treat to get to have him read to me! He really brought everyone to life....very glad I got these books!

Excellent

This series is a perfect road trip listen, for children and adults alike! Tim Curry reads Lemony Snicket fabulously, giving wonderful personality to the characters and cadence to the story. Highly recommend.

Loving the miserable dreary Lemony Snicket

We are really miserably enjoying the dreary unfortunate series of adventures. I prefer the full cast and sound effects of the first in the series but still really enjoy Tim Curry's performance as narrator Lemony Snicket.

Brilliant

A wonderful, brilliantly annoying book in the Series of Unfortunate Events. Lemony Snicket weaves the reptilian creatures into the plot line and Tim Curry does a wonderful job with the narration. I recommend this Audible yet start the series from the beginning; it’ll be more fun this way.

Fantastic!,but depressing 😘😩

I loved this book it was amazing!!! I felt so intrigued to every word that the orphans said. The only thing that I didn't like about the book was that I found myself sobbing. But besides that it was great!

Monty

I have loved these books for years. I love Tim Curry, but his voice for Uncle Monty just butchered this book for me. Made me think of Nigel Thornberry.
