Publisher's summary

A rule-breaker with a fiery attitude, Ella always wore her heart on her sleeve. Then, she left everything behind to go to college, where she transformed into someone who follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. Now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home. But once there, Ella fears that everything she's worked so hard to bury might resurface - especially with Micha living right next door.

Smart, sexy, and confident, Micha can get under Ella's skin like no one else. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. If he tries to tempt the old Ella to return, he will be impossible to resist. But what Ella doesn't realize is that when she left, she took a piece of Micha's heart with her. Now he's determined to win back the girl he lost, no matter what it takes.

Sweet and Touching

This young adult novel was pretty good. It was very sweet and heart felt. Depending on your upbringing, seeing into the "secrets" of Ella and Micha will either reach out to you in a way that soothe your own wounds and maybe settle conflicts within yourself; or give you a window into what that can be like for a young person going through some of life's greatly unfair tragedies in life and how that can mold someone. I liked this novel mostly because the main characters overcame and grew from the obstacles they were faced in by realizing their love from one another. Their unconditional friendship and force-of-nature passion for one another melting and mixing together to create this unbreakable bond is quite beautiful to witness. The only thing that kept me from giving this novel 5 stars is because to me this novel feels very real, which is good, but is lacking the details of reality. Ya know? To me the core of this story is based within real life, it isn't like similar novels that have impossible situations/places/people, but looses its credibility by lacking details in the past and present background. You are might agree or disagree, but either way its worth the credit to find out for yourself. ;)

Another great New Adult Romance!!

This is such a sweet ‘new adult’ style romance between two friends, Ella and Micha, who have known each other forever, growing up together. They both come from dysfunctional families – Micha’s Dad ran out on them when he was 6 and Ella’s Dad is an alcoholic and her mother suffers from bipolar disorder with delusions of grandeur.Just as Ella and Micha were about to take their relationship further than friendship one dark and stormy night, Ella decides to run to college without telling Micha where she is going. Traumas in her past that she blames herself for have pushed her over the edge and she decides to reinvent herself. Now, 8 months later, she is back, barely recognizable as the girl that had run from Micha. The old Ella burned brightly with an inner fire, she was reckless and fiery and passionate and always honest. Now she has repressed all that we she was deep inside and created a façade of a polite and preppy student but Micah can still see the old Ella, his Ella, burning on the inside and he wants her back.Ella broke my heart – her perceived guilt completely defines her. She’s pretending to be happy as the new Ella and not quite getting there, she’s not looking in mirrors because she can’t bear to look at herself, and she’s almost suffocating with panic over her memories. She’s been able to change who she is on the outside but can’t truly change what is on the inside and certainly can’t mask her body’s instinctive and fiery reaction to Micha and her blood is roaring with yearning to be close to him again. Micha has his own demons to contend with but, despite growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, he’s incredibly mature and grounded and decides to hide these from Ella. He’s worried about her and instinctively wants to protect her. He’s confident he can rekindle the flame and bring the old Ella back. They’re so sweet together. They complete each other. It’s a lovely young romance and I’m looking forward to the next chapter in their story.

Narration

Loved Ella. The reader for Micha didn’t really match the story.

That being said this seems like fan fiction for how you would have wanted a high school relationship to work out. So if you are mopey and the stars are in retrograde, you will love this.
