Publisher's summary

“I thoroughly enjoyed this most suspenseful, intriguing and entertaining story… It definitely had Big Little Lies vibes!” —Liz Nugent, author of Strange Sally Diamond

Shortlisted for the International Thriller Writers' 2024 Thriller Awards

From bestselling author Lisa Gray comes a thrilling tale of a cutthroat contest for the ultimate house-selling commission… one million dollars.

In the elite world of luxury real estate, it is often kill or be killed, something agent Andi Hart knows all too well—and after recent events, she’s ready to set her own rules. So when her boss challenges the team to find a buyer for a glitzy Malibu beach house, with a prize commission of a cool $1 million, she knows it’s her ticket to a new life.

But she’s not the only one who not only wants but needs the money. Each of her four colleagues has secrets they’re eager to hide—secrets $1 million would go a long way in concealing. And soon, it becomes clear all five would do just about anything to get their hands on it…

When a dead body is found at the open house, the dream home becomes a nightmarish crime scene. Has the contest reached a deadly new level, or is there something more sinister at work?

Critic reviews

“Slick, smart and sassy as hell, To Die For has more twists than the Pacific Coast Highway. Lisa knows how to grab your attention from the get go with this memorable ensemble and it never lets up. Her best book yet.”—John Marrs, author of Keep It in the Family

“Utterly fantastic! Like Selling Sunset meets Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles with murder! One of my top reads of 2023.”—Steph Broadribb, author of Death in the Sunshine

“A glossy, glamorous surface gives way to a dark undercurrent in this oh-so-clever mystery.”—Marion Todd, author of the Detective Clare Mackay series

Great story!

Loved the characters and I sure didn’t see the twist at the end. Loved it!

Great suspense with several twists

Loved this audiobook! I did get a little lost at first, from the multiple point of views, but it didn't last. It has multiple possibilities on who's going to die, then twists on who did the crime. It was awesome and I highly recommend.

Good story!

As a Realtor, I enjoyed it! Ending was simple and I didn’t see it coming.

Story jumps all over

Big Lisa Gray fan but did not enjoy. The story jumps all over the place with timeline and characters none of whom are likeable. A lot of the diaglog was repetitive and not as cleaver as I think the writher thought (e.g. not getting laid tonight - how many times did that need to be said). I did not feel the flavor of LA/SoCal is in her other books or other authors or the world of cut throat real estate. Worth the read - meh, sure, but I doubt it will be one of your favorites. One of the narrators always sounded like she was out of breath or just getting a glass of water was an emergency (too much emoting), another narrator had and LA cop talking with a NY accent -really strange.

Everyone has motive

A body is found facedown floating in the pool. Everyone has motive and not everyone is a good person. So many suspects! And who is the body!?

Million Dollar Listings meets Real Housewives

This was a very entertaining "who done it." Dysfunction at its best. Not a serious read but it was pure fun and entertainment.

Interesting..

This book started on a high. Plot twists, terrible people, and excitement were all there. The ending, however, was a bit of a let down. While it wasn't predictable, it was still a bit flat following all of the previous excitement the book presented. Overall, the story itself wasn't bad.

Let the rat race begin!

Whoa! Everyone was doing everyone dirty for that million dollar commission. The sabotage was real! Oh, but little did they all know....
