Publisher's summary

The alien who hand-picked me to wed and bed is the most domineering warlord of the bunch. Lucky me.

As the first humans allowed in Suevan space, there’s a lot riding on my all-woman team. Earth desperately needs their tech, and I’m determined to prove we can negotiate the price. Without their planetary defense systems, Earth is a sitting duck, ripe for invasion.

Except the Suevan culture is nothing like ours.

When I take part in what I think is a welcoming ceremony, I leave with more than I bargained for: a husband. A mate. Apparently, we’re there to marry them as payment—something the top brass on Earth doesn’t bother denying. Fantastic.

And the Suevan who hand-picked me to wed and bed? He’s the most domineering warlord of the bunch. Lucky me. I’ll get the Suevan tech we need, but there’s no way I’m giving in to his demands…no matter how, ahem, persuasive he might be.

Dynamic duo of alien rom coms strikes again!

While Ms. Jackson and Mr. Lloyd’s narrations do sometimes give me Ice Planet Barbarian vibes, I easily forgave that because they are perfect for campy alien romances starring hunky but respectful aliens and feisty Earth gals. This opening book takes a little more time to set the stage for the series arc, where Earth traded a ship of unknowing women in exchange for the defense technology Earth desperately needs.
So, there’s a little less camp compared to the next book, which upped the humor and hit my Goldilocks zone for alien romance, mixing sexy, funny, and action packed in equal measure. But, I love that the gals are both fierce and feminine, and this book introduces several of the gals who will get later HEAs, so starting here makes sense.

I was at first a bit worried about this having aliens in loin cloths and primitive living conditions (the cover art being a bit misleading). Luckily, this is more like a Wakanda vibe, where the Suevans are technologically advanced and also live close to nature, allowing for Romancing the Stone type of adventure in the nearby jungle and medicine, clean clothes and pampering back in civilization.

This book features human captain Nikki and Warlord Draz, poison snails and a welcome trope reversal having Nikki be the savior instead of the damsel. She’s a bit bloodthirsty (comic book levels of violence), very stubborn, and not adverse to dropping an F bomb when the situation calls for it.
Yep, Nikki was the perfect salt, tequila, lime heroine and Draz the perfect honorable Warlord with
extra parts for her pleasure.

I recommend this series for those who also liked:
-Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon (this is if you want less fight scenes and more fated mates focus)
-Drixonians by Ella Maven (same scaled aliens in dire need of women, but gals aren’t quite as fierce)
-Galactic Gladiators by Anna Hacket (if the warrior thing is a must - books 1-3 are in a collection)

Great Romance

This was so great! Cute, funny and sexy! A hunk with a heart gold and the lethal hands of a warrior! Loved every minute of it!

Great Alien Rom-Com

The concept/plot for this series is interesting. The world Bell’s created is interesting and the characters are well-written! I can’t wait to see how the other books will turn out!

Engrossing from start to finish

I purchased this just because I love the narrators and they didn’t disappoint. The book was exciting and not predictable. Definitely worth purchasing. If you love Ruby Dixons books , you will love this series too.

Loved the expression in voice

So expressive gives it a little Latin flare. Will continue the series on audible. Very good

Lloyd is So Engaging as Draz

Honestly, I wish he’d have been the only narrator, Jackson took what should have been a badass FMC and literally had her whine about everything (not getting the D fast enough, wanting to be a warlord, not wanting to meet his mom, the guy seeing her pee, etc. I mean, seriously.) EXCEPT actually nearly dying from what was likely early sepsis, she was somehow stoic and mostly silent through a mind-numbingly painful infection. Jackson’s voice and accent is quite nasal and unfortunately it was a major detractor as I listened to the story.

The book was just “ok” to me

I had some issues with interest with this book. It just didn’t grab my attention. The male narrator was kinda weird for me. Over all I finished the book but it was just “ok” to me.

A good start to a series

I am just starting this series so I don’t know what the rest is like but I enjoyed listening to this book. The storyline is interesting as well as the spicy parts. The 2 person audio always works for me when it’s from 2 perspectives. The world building could use a bit of work but this is the first book. It follows the same pattern a lot of other books do though it starts with the top warrior then the next book is the prince. It doesn’t explain about how the cast system really works and that is the main reason it doesn’t get 5 stars. The main character Nicki is a well rounded character but drask(?) is not as well written.

It was great

Who doesn’t appreciate an enthusiastic good boy who loves his butt kicking wife and literally just wants her happiness.

I had to stop the audiobooks when the boys were like Whoah she can kick our butt and she smells good. Are there more of these human women???? Like the she can kick my butt so she’s perfect energy is a mood.

Amazing!!!

I listened to this series over the course of a weekend. Could not stop listening! Highly recommend this series because it combines the humor of romance with the spicy scenes we love! Not to mention the strong female protagonists with different personalities. A++!
