About this listen

Unsurpassed for their unique blend of nonstop action, daring ideas, and extensive world-building, the Foundation novels of Isaac Asimov are one of the great masterworks of science fiction. With extraordinary vision, they chronicle the struggle of a courageous group of men and women devoted to safeguarding humanity against an unyielding deluge of barbarism and warfare.

At last, the costly and bitter war between the two Foundations has come to an end. The scientists of the First Foundation have proved victorious; and now they return to Hari Seldon's long-established plan to build a new Empire on the ruins of the old. But rumors persist that the Second Foundation is not destroyed after all - and that its still-defiant survivors are preparing their revenge.

Now two exiled citizens of the Foundation - a renegade Councilman and a doddering historian-set out in search of the mythical planet Earth.... and proof that the Second Foundation still exists.

Meanwhile, someone - or something - outside of both Foundations seems to be orchestrating events to suit its own ominous purpose. Soon representatives of both the First and Second Foundations will find themselves racing toward a mysterious world called Gaia and a final, shocking destiny at the very end of the universe!

Foundation books as a group are outstanding

Would you consider the audio edition of Foundation's Edge to be better than the print version?

No. Reading lets the mind run wild where audio tells delivers the book in a way that lets you enjoy the book but as the reader tells it.

Foundation and Robots

This connection to Asimov's robot series (which I have yet to read so maybe I am biased) takes away from the overall mystique and wonder of the Foundation and Hari Seldon. Still a very good book and interesting story, yet I cannot help but wish the connection was not made. But maybe I will feel different after I finish foundation and earth.

Another great book in the foundation series!

Isaac Asimov was a genius author. I highly recommend this book after the trilogy, very entertaining in the second half.

Another Piece in this work of Art

A great continuation to the original three foundation books. Really enjoyed the world building and writing. It never skipped a beat.

Sublime

I love the voice actor as well - Scott Brick. So many horribad voice actors out there have provided contrast and in turn, helped me appreciate his performance even more.

He helps provide immersion rather than distraction.

Critical tie in ending

This really brings a nice ending to the trilogy that goes above and beyond and is a must read if you liked the first three. I feel it is the best of the three now four .

well done...wish scott did the final book also

This was a good listen...too bad the next book in the series: 'foundation and earth'- it was great book---the climax the foundation series...but what a brutal listen. Scott Brick did a fine job with other foundation books, and he should've did the final book also.

I have listened to much of the Dune series also...all very good esp 'Dune.'
Scott Brick did much of it also, and was good. Simon Vance as the narrator in 'Dune' is a real treat-- he is probably one of my favorites...in any of his narrations.
