Publisher's summary
The first book of Day by Day Armageddon took us deep into the mind of a military officer and survivor as he made a New Year's resolution to start keeping a journal. The man kept his resolution and brought to us the fall of humanity, day by day. We see the man transition from the life that you and I live to the prospect of fighting for his very survival against the overwhelming hordes of the dead. We see him bleed, we see him make mistakes, we witness him evolve. The highly anticipated sequel to the best-selling underground cult classic, Day by Day Armageddon, begins where the first novel left off.
BEGIN INTERCEPT
Armies of undead have risen up across the U.S. and around the globe; there is no safe haven from the diseased corpses hungering for human flesh. But in the heat of a Texas wasteland, a small band of survivors attempt to counter the millions closing in around them.
INTERCEPT COMPLETED
Day by day, the handwritten journal entries of one man caught in a worldwide cataclysm capture the desperation--and the will to survive--as he joins forces with a handful of refugees to battle soulless enemies both human and inhuman from inside an abandoned strategic missile facility. But in the world of the undead, is mere survival enough?

In harrowing detail, he tells of being shot down in the battle of A Shau Valley, of surviving enemy attacks during the Tet Offensive, and of a death-defying nighttime river rescue.

Story
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Story
Survival in Man’s Second Dark Age...Three hundred years after the fall of society, the last fragments of civilization are clinging to life, living in the ruins of the ancient cities in nearly-medieval conditions. Technology has been reduced to legend, monsters roam the forests, and fear reigns supreme. But that is just the beginning...The wind-borne spores are spreading, disfiguring men and twisting their minds, turning them into creatures that threaten to destroy the townships.

Story
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.

Among the Best Post Apocalypse Zombie Genre
For those (and only for those) who can appreciate the dreadful notion that the dead can re-animate and attack the living, this book offers a most bleak but valiantly written sequel to the original "Day By Day Armageddon". It is again written in diary form and our protagonist expands the world of complete devastation by some unknown virus. The dead are now 99.x% of the population and only a rag-tag group of civilian and military remain. The sequel is arguably better with our hero stranded and alone in a dangerous wasteland. The author again brings the book (and this could be his MO), to an abrupt ending but knowing that, we assume that the next installment will follow. Is it scary? Absolutely! Brilliantly read, you will not put it down until it's over.

120-proof zombie fiction
The story distills the essence of what is driving the success of modern zombie-survival fiction into a reliably entertaining, coherent and (until the unbelievably bizarre afterword) entirely believable storyline. A must "read" for any fan of zombie fiction--not as good as WWZ, but close.

Bourne keeps it going
I know this is a sequel but it just picked up like it was the next logical breath. What an awesome book and narrator. I can't wait for the next installment.

The world ends with a bite...
I have enjoyed listening to this book while driving across the country. The twist and turns along the story along with the technical dynamics has made this story fun to experience .

Strong start, weak ending
To avoid any spoilers im just going to say that the beginning is really good, but then it starts to get a little nonsensical around the last 1/4 of the back.

A fun story but I liked the first one better.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was entertaining, but not as captivating as the first book was.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
There wasn't much of interest for me in this book. The main character spent a lot of time trying to get home, so I missed his interactions with his old crew of friends.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe. I would see the first book as a movie for sure.

threw away a radio battery but kept the radio
radio depletes battery and to save weight he tosses the battery but keeps the radio. he mentions that he will try to find a replacement battery. this is silly because these batteries are rechargeable, they don't weigh very much, in the radio is useless without it. I know this is a personal nitpick but I couldn't get over it. it seemed like the character did silly things like this but in the first book he seemed more rational.
