Amato is OUTSTANDING, makes story come alive

What did you love best about The Husband Trap?

The characters were flawed, and real. Adrian is a snotty aristocrat with a temper, but he does have a kind heart -- and is somewhat self-aware. Violet is insecure, and she knows it. I loved that she did stand up for herself. I'm not your standard Regency romance reader. I picked this audiobook because I love Amato's narration. Her skills are breath-taking. She especially does male voices well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Husband Trap?

Their wedding night. It's steamy, but also real and very painful. It was great to be inside Adrian's head. You get a real sense of 1800s standards, when it came to noblewomen and their "virtue." The couple's second night together, when they play cards, is also quite remarkable.

Which scene was your favorite?

There are 3 that stand out: When Violet stands up to the housekeeper, when Violet saves the dog, and the reconciliation meeting at the country estate.

Who was the most memorable character of The Husband Trap and why?

Violet, because she really is well-drawn,. And you see her grow from a sheltered cipher of a woman into one with backbone. Loved her dog, Horacio, and her brother-in-law, Kit. Her mother-in-law is also a fresh piece of work -- and she's FRENCH!

Any additional comments?

The one downside is that the twin Jeannette is such a manipulative person that I'm not sure I can bring myself to listen to "The Wife Trap,'' even though I love Amato. I am next listening to "The Wedding Trap." Another great example of Amato's work is Amanda Quick's "The Paid Companion."Audible has it, and I highly recommend it.

Light bit of reading.

This book is good in that it was fast and light. I did enjoy it, the narrarator good, but I was rolling my eyes several times with the descriptions such as "moon and stars sailing through her head as esctasy reached her." I had a chuckle over how cheesy it sounded. If you don't take it to seriously this is a good romance. The heroine made me want to slap her because she kept making the same mistakes over and over, in a friendly way such as I would my own sister for being stupid. Her sister on the other had has made me dispise her and I decided I don't want a happy ending for her so I will skip book 2 and continue on to book 3.

A play on the parent trap

This was a good listen, it was like the parent trap but for a historical romance. Twins switch places right before a wedding. A good listen well worth the credit.

I love everything about this story.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Husband Trap to be better than the print version?

Yes. The narrator was wonderful.

What other book might you compare The Husband Trap to and why?

The Johanna Lindsey Mallory family novels. All the characters that matter to the story are well developed.

Which character – as performed by Bianca Amato – was your favorite?

Violet. I could identify with her predicament. I could feel her pain make my chest tight around my heart.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

I really loved the characters. I loved the story. I loved the narrator most of all. I didn't know what I would get since this is my first experience with this author. I will definitely look for more audiobooks by her as well as look up more books read by this narrator.

I really enjoyed this book!

Most romances are predictable but even if you know where you are going the trip can be quite enjoyable and this was. I really liked the characters, the story and the narrator. This was my first book by this author but probably not my last.

Did not meet my expecitations

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I did it backwards. I read the wife trap first. I enjoyed it. If i would have read the husband trap first i would not have read the next in the series.

Would you be willing to try another one of Bianca Amato’s performances?

?

Was The Husband Trap worth the listening time?

Not really

WONDERFUL BOOK!

I am a LOVER of history fiction novels of this time period, but of late have stop reading them because they are often cookie cutter and just "drag" you along for a ride you KNOW where it is going to end up. The only reason I gave this a change is the awards that it received. I have to admit I do not know what RITA is, but plan to look up, so that I might find other novels of this magnitude.

This is BY FAR the best history fiction novel I have read in recent history (no pun intended). It was well written. It was well narrated. Its plot was wonderful. The characters are so well developed, I feel like I know them on a personal basis. The only thing it was lacking was ... NOTHING!
