Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them. Publisher's summary
Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.
When 16-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

An excellent read
Clockwork angels is a book about girl who sails to England after her brother. When she gets there she discovers a world that she did not know existed, a world full of demons warlocks and magic. In her attempts to find her brother she uncovers the secrets about her family and in turn, herself.
I loved this book. It was a little difficult to get into at first but well worth it. The characters were well developed and engaging. The main character was strong and funny, but not overly sassy, and it was a pleasure to see how she developed. The narrator was a credit to this book and language itself was absolutely lovely. The target age is about 14-22 I???m 17 so I cannot say whether older audiences will like it, but I would still say to give it a try. This book has action, mystery, and a touch of romance; it is truly an excellent read.
My only complaint is that I have to what a whole year for the sequel.

What does Jennifer Ehle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The story really comes alive & I feel like I can never get enough. I'll be so sad when this series is over. He accents and character voices are wonderful and very distinguishable.

Can't wait until the next book :)
I am a fan of the Immortal Instruments series and was not disappointed with this book. I gave it 4 stars because the start was a bit slow. I can't wait until the next book. Good narration.

Slow start but a great story
Enjoyed this book. It was a slow start, as stated by many other audible reviews, but once it gets going (1/2 way through) it picks up pace & gets exciting. It's not that slow is bad or boring, it wasn't. Just a slower pace than say The Mortal Instruments series.
Reader did a wonderful job on making each character voice unique.

Meh
I really love this book series and author, but was very disappointed by the reader. She had no real inflection, barely did accents and you couldn't tell who was speaking half the time. She also sounded like she had cotton in her mouth or something... I could barely understand her and had to slow down the track. Will be lucky if I finish the ebook in the car, which sucks because I've read the other series myself and loved them!

Cassandra Clare is a GENIUS
I never fail to be amazed by Cassandra Clare. Absolutely nerve wracking every time I open up a book of hers. Undoubtedly magnificent.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next
What made the experience of listening to Clockwork Angel the most enjoyable?
The narrataor did such a fantastic job. I enjoyed hearing her different pitch/tone for the characters and it is exactly how I would have thought they sounded.

Good but...
The book is great and the performance is good BUT there is one thing that I had a huge problem with. The narrator gives one of the characters a ridiculous speech impediment so over the top that I assumed it had to be written that way. It isn’t, and the addition of it completely changes the tone of every interaction with that character. It’s a minor character but, it really bothered me.
